Miss Diva,

This is totally normal. Some do feel a restriction after their first fill, however; many do not. I am like you and feel no restriction after having had my first fill last month. Some of us take a second, third or even a fourth fill before we begin to feel like the band is working. I am imapatient and bummed myself . . . but we must learn to be patient . . . and trust that the band will be the tool we signed up for when we had our surgery.

Stayed tuned . . . it will get better!

I received my first fill 3 weeks after surgery. It's been a full week and some days since that, and I still don't have much restriction. I have gotten food stuck, but on most things I can eat and eat and not get full.

My nurse told me to expect this though and to not get discouraged yet. She said I may not feel any difference at all yet and that it could take 2-3 more fills to get to the perfect spot. Currently I'm at 6.5cc's in a 14cc band.

Just hang in there!

Your lucky....I only got 1 cc for my first fill and it did absolutely nothing, especially after being poked 20 times to find the port. I go back in Tuesday for a second fill but my doc seems a little conservative with the fills so I dont know how much i'll end up with this time.

Thanks everyone!...

Do you guys measure your food? do you eat more than 4 ounces? I just wish i was just able to eat very little and be stuffed! Im so impatient... I have been working out to try and keep my mind off eating.. and it works most of the time.. but the weekends are hard.. home for most of the day.. i snacked a litte.... I havent gotten anything stuck.. which seems like i am the only one...

I had my surgery on 7/31 and have my first fill on this Thursday. I TOTALLY agree with you. I want to be full quickly. I am so bummed at this point. I feel like I paid all of this money only to pray I don't gain weight during this time. Of course if I was losing I would be MORE motivated to be excercising everyday. Right now I feel more deprivation just because I know I shouldn't be eating but by the afternoon (4 pm) I am starving. I hope you find the restriction you are looking for!

I would call your Dr. I know the office I go through want you to wait 2 weeks to make sure but maybe they are more aggressive.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
