A+ for Doctor Alberto Aceves in Mexico.

Recommended Posts

A+ for Dr. Alberto Aceves and his staff in Calexico, Mexico. I had my surgery with Dr. Aceves on August the 30th and everything was wonderful. When I arrived the patient coordinator Yolonda had all of my pre-op test lined up and ready. Then after all of my test were complete I met with Dr. Aceves and he explained everything about the surgery the before and after and answered any question I had. Then from there it was to the "Lucerna" the hotel where I stayed the night before the surgery. The hotel was very nice and had 3 restaurants there I had my "last supper", so to speak. Later on Dr. Campos came in and showed the band and went into detail about the band and the surgery. The next day I went for surgery, I was the first patient that day. I went in about 10:00am and I was up and walking around a little after 12:00pm. I don't remember anything from the surgery and Dr. Aceves also fixed a Hiatal Hernia that I didn't even know I had. The nursing staff was so helpful and right on time with my meds 24/7. Everyone was so nice and the hospital was clean and well maintained. Dr. Campos also recommended a Dentist for me on Sunday, Dr. Roberto and Dr.Laura. They too did a wonderful job on my teeth for a inexpensive price. I was so pleased by everything and if you have any doubts about Dr. Aceves I'm here to tell you, you don't have to worry about a thing. One more thing I went by myself to Mexico and everything was well....I cant say enough about how good the care was, the surgery and the Denistry.....A++.:)

He is a great doctor! I have heard nothing but good things about his hospital too. My friend got the sleeve on Friday the 5th and she said all the same things you did. I may have him remove my band some day and get the sleeve.

I am not at this point having my band removed. If I were to have trouble, I would get a sleeve. There are a lot of people having trouble with reflux

or all of a sudden, they have no restriction and can't find restriction again. These are signs of problems with the band. Thank goodness, I don't have these problems.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
