MacMadame 81 Posted September 7, 2008 Does anyone know what happens to the vagus nerve when you get a sleeve?
shrinkingpamela 17 Posted September 7, 2008 I've never heard it mentioned in relation to a vsg. I don't think it's an issue. Of course, I'm not a doctor so don't take my word on it.
francine 0 Posted September 7, 2008 all I know is when I got my first fill four week ago, I just about passed out. The doctor told me it was because the Vegus nerve had pressure on it., is the reason I got so dizzy. Had to look it up - but it really did a number on me. Had a second fill this week with no problems.
MacMadame 81 Posted September 8, 2008 I've heard that about fills. The thing is, the vagus nerve is on top of your stomach. So if they cut off the top, then they have to cut it, right? A lot of people report being very hungry the first two weeks and I was wondering if that was part of the problem. That's the nerve that signals that your stomach has stretched out a bit in response to food.
MacMadame 81 Posted September 19, 2008 Okay, I've looked at some pictures and I think maybe it goes down the part of the tummy that's not cut but that maybe some of it's branches might be cut. Here's a picture: http://www.clinicalexams.co.uk/images/vagus_nerve_10.jpg But I doubt it's to scale.
