kgranite79 1 Posted September 6, 2008 I am 17 days post op and wondering what kind of liquid pain medication is out there for adults. I had a headache last night, and had no liquid pain medicine except for my roxicett (sp?) that was prescribed to me after surgery. I was not about to take a narcotic for a headache lol. Also can I start taking Advil again? I know that the doc says no apsirin or ib profen for a while after surgery, just not sure how long thats for. Is there a liquid or chewable advil, tylenol or some other pain medicine? If so which works best?
ndwife 0 Posted September 6, 2008 You should be ok to take an extra strength Tylenol. Get the caplets, becuase they dissolve faster. I have stayed away from advil, they scare you too much with the whole blood clot thing. Also, my pain meds were given in a pill form and I just broke them in half to take them. Good Luck! oscarel 0 Posted September 6, 2008 (edited) Walmart sells liquid Tylenol. My doc said it was OK to alternate between ibuprofen and acetaminophen if there was pain after my surgery. And actually the nurse had to reverify and she also said it was ok. They are apparently changing their view so I would call and ask yours to make sure. thatDEgirl 1 Posted September 6, 2008 If you want liquid, there is an adult strength Liquid Tylenol. You will have to ask the pharmacist though, because they keep it behind the counter (at least here in FL). You could also call your surgeon, at 2 weeks I was cleared to take regular Tylenol..no NSAIDS though (Advil, Aleve, etc). The irritate the pouch.

odizzydori 0 Posted September 7, 2008 I live in Florida and on the shelf with the regular pain reliever you can get Liquid Tylenol for adults. It works faster then the pills and doesn't taste to bad. At my store it isn't kept behind the counter.
srknepler 0 Posted September 7, 2008 I just bought some liquid Tylenol in my supermarket's pharmacy department.... I remember that it was marketed as a sore throat medicine a few years ago....maybe that'll help you to find it.
