tcbeau 0 Posted September 6, 2008 how many days does your doctor say that you must be on full liquids before progressing to soft foods? Mine says not until day 21, but I am starting to gag at the thought of another Protein shake!!!! I was banded 8/26 and was wondering what everyone else's requirements were. Thanks alot! Lanakila 1 Posted September 6, 2008 My doctor originally prescribed one week each of Clear Liquids, full liquids, mushies, soft foods, tender foods, then regular as tolerated. At my one-week post-op, I admitted that I had started full liquids 2 days early. They said that was common for folks with no restriction and that as long as I stayed on each level a FULL 5 days, I could keep moving on. I was sooooooo relieved! I get mushies starting tomorrow :lovechoc:

Roheryn 0 Posted September 6, 2008 I'm the same as Kiz!! My liquids were whatever will fit up a McDonalds straw...now it is whatever I can puree (1/2 cup)...so tonight it was Mum's YUMMY Spaghetti Bolognese ! I have also had mashed potato (pureed potato mash from scratch) with a bit of Campbell's Chunky Butter chicken Soup blended...for lunch I had Chunky Campbells Beef and Potato Soup pureed. I am kinda feeling lazy about making from scratch at the moment. But I'll get there :lovechoc: I much prefer fresher foods (plus there is less salt!!) I have not been weighed since the 27th of August and I am trying to wait until my next visit with dr.... I hope I lost???? Good Luck to all Jo Ann

Good Luck to all Jo Ann thats weird. i cant believe they didnt put you on liquids for sometime first. but i huess they are the doctors. i was put on Clear Liquids for 3 days post op, full liquids from4-14 days post op, and then mushies from 15-24 days post op, and then solids as i could. and i cant wait until the mushies. cause im starting to get hungry. i keep a bottle of Water with me at all times to sip on. that helps the hungry feeling. i dont think i will be eating our drinking Soup for sometime now. hahaha jason r p.s. everyone keep up the good work. oh and i lost 22.6 pounds in the first 8 days because of the liquids. the first 3 days it was hard to even drink 4 oz of liquids. neomie 0 Posted September 7, 2008 I was banded on the 29th, had 2 days of clear liquid and 14 days of full liquids , still have a week to go. I'm working hard at getting all I need into my system, so I put bought egg whites in my smoothies along with silky tofu, yogourt, frozen fruit also I use soy milk as there's a lot of Calcium in it. In my Soups, I cooked a whole bunch of different veggies and pured them , I also add tofu to them and chicken broth.< /p> I haven't felt lots of hunger with these. I also pureed a chunky Soup and added chicken broth to it , also I like pea soup so I pureed some of that also. I've taken Fiber that dilutes in Water and have no problem with Constipation.< /p> My biggest problem is my blood pressure as i was taking medication for high blood pressure and ever since my banding I've had low , like way under a hundred so for the last 3 days haven't taken my med It's better but still kinda low. Also whenever I go out I feel weak, get hot and tired . I think I'm kind of pale. Thought I was drinking enough water but I will try taking more to see if it makes a difference. hold tight it's just a few days out of your life.
momcof3 1 Posted September 7, 2008 I had two days of clear liquids, 2-3 weeksof full liquids(I will be done with this on 9/15), 2-3 weeks of pureed, 2-3 weeks of semi-soft, and then I get to eat regular food by week 12. I have to wait for them to call me to advance to the next stage. I am sick of Cream of Wheat and sugar free pudding, and Tomato Soup. I am even getting tired of sugar free popsicles. The highlight of my day is my Calcium chew. I have lost 12 lbs since my surgery on Aug 26 - bringing me to a total of 42 since May 9. I am thrilled to have lost the weight, but at times I mourn the loss of food - my case manager said that would happen. 285/243/ goal
mdhomeschool 0 Posted September 8, 2008 Two weeks of full liquids has become three weeks for me because I went to Boston for three days and the doc couldn't see me until today (Monday). I'm so looking forward to mushies! Eating in Boston on liquids was a bit of a trick - lots of egg drop Soup and clam chowder! It is boring doing this for so long, but I want my poor little stomach to heal correctly. I really don't like pain, and I imagine how painful it would be if this band got messed up. Keeps me on track!
