I am new at all of this. Really dont have a clue. I have been approved for a loan that will be there for 6mo. If I am just now starting will I have my surgery before the 6mo is up?

Will you please tell me what happens from start to finish?

You need to go to a seminar (or several) , pick a surgeon, and they can give you an idea of a timeline. It varies for everyone! Self pay usually goes faster but how fast depends on your surgeon etc.

Well, I was 3 weeks from start to surgery. Since I was private pay, it shortened a good bit.

The first thing is to find your doctor or clinic. True Results was an easy choice because they work well with credit and are pretty reasonably priced.

I went in for my consult. While there, I had an EKG and they drew some blood. That was Monday.

On Thursday, I called them, and was told that my test came back OK, and I would be cleared for surgery. The surgeon I was assigned to in the clinic had a date open 2 weeks later. They sent me an e-mail with the pre-op diet.

The day before surgery, I had an appointment where I met the doctor, and sat in a 2 hour class for everyone having surgery the next morning.

At 6:00 AM, I went to the clinic. At 7:15, I was knocked out. At 9:30, I woke up in recovery. At 10:30, my wife drove me home.

That's the fast version... so, yes, since you're private pay, you should easily make the 6 months. But start now.

True Results put me in on a 12,900 plan, which includes surgery and 2 years of follow-up and fills. (the only thing it didn't cover was the initial consult, which was 150.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
