Stomach ache?

Recommended Posts

I never suffered from stomach aches before I had the band installed, but tonight after I had an iced doughnut (yes, I know - it was a bad choice, but to my credit, it was my first since my surgery) I have had an awful stomach ache, and have felt a bit queesy. I had no problems getting it down, that was a bit of a shock, I thought that it would get stuck like bread, but it didnt.

Is this normal after eating a higher fat, suger loaded food item?

How are you feeling now??

I cannot do high sugar before the band and have not tried it now that I'm banded. I would always get a stomach ache.

Hope it passed and your feeling better.

Sam,

I am SO glad you brought this up!

I NEVER eat donuts, but 2 weeks ago I ate 2 choc covered donut's, probably the first time since Ive been banded.

Anyhow, about 30 minutes afterwards I started feeling bad REALLY bad. Actually felt like a gallbladder attack. DEFINATELY not the "stuck" feeling. This was completely different. Like I said, it was comparable to a gall-stone trying to pass. About 4 hours later everything was better.

hmmmmmm, I wonder if we are the only ones that have had problems with donuts?

I can promise you, it will be a LOOOONG time till I have another one!

I can't think of a higher fat & sugar loaded deal than an ice cream sundee with whiped cream, Cookies AND brownies... Felt just fine afterwards....

Perhaps it was the bread like quality of the donuts?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
