Can't your surgeon just replace the port?

Has anyone out there had to be re-banded because the lap band port was defective ?

My port and tubing was changed, but I did not have a new band. Why swap the band if the port is the problem?

My Band was done by Dr Marema, Supposevily the BEST DR in Fla. The first time he sent me home with a Hematoma, which should have been recoginized and FIXED during surgery. 6 months later with a bleeding stomach and infections of which I could have died he redid a 2nd operation ( to my expense) to move the port to the other side. (of which he forgot to tell me does not work as well as the original side.) Months later when I was in excruciating pain, did I find out it had in fact broken in half, flipping my colon in half, bursting my appendix along the way, did I pay for a 3rd operation to have it removed. ($60.000 later, It is noones fault!!) They offered to do the Gastric bypass (which I could pay again) but I figured they would kill me on that one!! So Iam now back where I started!! They should be held accountable!!! I'm sure there is an attorney somewhere that could make alot of $$$ from these crooks!!

The manufacturer is usually only responsible if the device is defective and only the cost of the device, not replacement cost for the surgery. Like if your roll of film is bad, they will give you a new roll, they won't pay for you to go on your vacation again so you can replace those photos.

I had a good surgeon. If a doctor messes up, I don't go back to them. Dumped the local doctor's office (not my surgeon) for aftercare here as I wasn't going to give them a second chance to hurt me. It sounds more like incompetence than an actual problem with the product.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
