Obesity Help Lawsuit filed by Gary Viscio

Recommended Posts

Hell I throw one in there. I'm fat because of donuts - let's sue krispy kreme, potato chips - oohh Doritos (big law suit there), Dr Pepper - (millions here I dome)...I could go on and on.

They owe me punitory damages as well as years of mental and emotional trama. If they never advertised their poisionious food and put it out there for me consume, I'd never have been fat...

Uh, Leslie, you're getting close to Morgan Spurlock territory there...

I'll file a counter-suit: bacon, why are you so greasy and salty. It's disgusting.

Pregnant maybe? Interesting combo there...LOL

Hail Pork (ah-hum Damn Pork) - Bacon, Porkchops, SAUSAGE, Pork rinds (hey I'm southern), Pulled Pork, HAM. My fingers and ankles are swelling just thinking about it. I can't eat most of it now - thank God for my band! I was a walking heart attack waiting to happen !

Pregnancy induced cravings I can understand. Sadly, the chocolate-covered meat thing is not restricted to mama's-to-be; there is a wide audience of tasters - completely beyond my comprehension.

I just wanted to point out that saying negative things about bacon is akin to blasphemy here in the south. And it is a crime punishable by jail time. Just saying such a thing may mean your name is already in the D.O.B (department of bacon) database as a "person of interest", Mac!

I saw something on youtube where a diner in Texas took bacon and put it in a batter like they use for chicken fried steak and fried it and then served it with white gravy and it was very popular there. My chest hurts:cry_smile:

I can't tell you how proud I am to be living in a state that is at the forefront of bacon-related research!!

I found the attached copy of a lawsuit online brought by Gary J. Viscio (an obesity attorney) against ObesityHelp.com .

Does anybody have any more information about this suit ?

It's really bizarre but I also heard that Gary Viscio just passed away!

This lawsuit was emailed to me by Amy Williams, previously an employee of OH. An OH member who is an attorney is verifying that it was filed in the court and that it hasn't been changed. So far, it appears to be legit.

There are certainly some problems with the wording, etc. Nobody really knows yet if it has been altered or if perhaps the medical problems Gary was experiencing before his untimely death caused some of the questionable statements. Lack of Oxygenation throughout his body? Many times people know their ticket is due to be stamped, they know on some level they will be dying. Maybe he was trying to put together a large sum of money for his family? Maybe he was just plain correct, we may never know.

But much of what is in there is true, some of it...not sure yet. We'll find out.

The family will be unlikely to follow through with the lawsuit according to the type of lawsuit and the laws in that particular state.

Amy was able to confirm some of the policies in the lawsuit, slamming members and attacking members (by staff posing as members) if they said anything negative about OH, the heavy handed behaviors of OH, etc.

The flip side to that coin is that life on OH changed drastically when Amy left. The over moderation, the quick bannings, deleted posts when they disagreed with Amy, much if it came to a dead stop when Amy left. Amy claims it was OH telling her to do these things, yet as soon as Amy left these behaviors came to a dead stop.

Gary was a good guy that did a great deal of positives for many fatties. He was able to push insurance issues so people COULD have WLS. Not many "lawyers" can make similar claims about improving the quality of the lives of a bunch of us fellow fatties.

I think he deserves a little more respect than what has been shown in this thread. He was a good guy that did good things for the fat community. He's one of the few that cared enough about folks like us to do so.

Wasa, nobody was dissing Viscio. Well, there was that one comment about how the complaint was worded, but that's only tangentally connected to Viscio the person (for all we know, an assistant could have been involved in the work-up). The rest of the thread was pretty much dedicated to slamming OH. Because they suck (It's not libel if it's true, heehee).

Don't forget part of the thread was also dedicated to defending the virtues of bacon!!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
