Have you been picking in my fridge, Ezma?

Okay I have developed a coldstone addiction, and if they aren't open then I have discoverd the "Whirled Peace" from Ben and Jerry's is better than a shot of vodka for knocking out a bad day. OH and Cookies and cream taste really good for a combo chocolate craving/icecream craving.

I make a promise to only eat icecream once a week, and not the whole pint once a week, but a SERVING of icecream once a week.

Now stay away from the pickles, I am going to eat them, they don't have calories.

Funny!!!! I think. I have a serious Coldstone addiction. Founder's Favorite in the Gotta have it size to be exact. I gave it up:confused_smile:, well cut back when I was doing weight watchers, and was amazed at how many points it added up to be. So I'll have it about twice a month in the like it size. Plus it's an expensive addiction. I think drugs would probably be cheaper.

I was very bad today. My bf and I had a fight so all I could think about was ice cream. I had a blizzard earlier and just now I had a double scoop at Baskin and Robbins. I basically have had no good food today just junk.

I feel for you Denise. Why is it that I can't get myself to exercise or something when I'm stressed or depressed? Why does it have to be straight for the Desserts? Hope things are better now with bf. Maybe you could beat him instead of eating - it would get rid of the stress and burn some calories. Think he'd agree to it?

Wanted to pat myself on the back - and get some pats from you too! lol I haven't had any ice cream in 5 days (partly because I ran out of my favorite kind, and haven't given in to buying more, and partly because I've been working hard on staying away from it. It really helps that the only DQ in my town has closed for the winter. Thanks for listening to me gloat - this is a huge goal for me.

Congrats sk!!!! That's really great. I'm still having a hard time with it but hopefully today is the start of the end of the carb cravings.

Right now I would love to take a 2 by 4 and smack him with it.

I would have exercised but the fight we had was pretty late at night

and I hardly slept at all because I was so upset. I was too worn out

to go to the gym, which is just not like me.

How's everyone doing? I'm doing okay. I'm not sure if I get to count last night as being good or not. I started South Beach and you get a dessert on it. There's not a lot of choices so I ended up having a Breyers Carb Smart Fudge Bar. It wasn't ice cream and I never really liked popsicles or fudgesicles so it's not my addiction but it was ice cream like in substance.

Ezma - It was NOT ice cream; that's the main thing.

SK - Good for you! Consider yourself patted on the back.

Denise - Men! Nothing else needs to be said!!!

Theninside - twice a month is do-able. Keep at it!

SM - Almost into the 150's- yeah!! And cookie free too. You are doing great!!

Update from Clinic visit - 2 1/2 hour train ride to the city; 35 minute walk to the clinic. 20 minutes IN the clinic...then same thing in reverse. So basically, no slippage, no problems, the nurse added 0.25 cc but basically it is just my body is fighting losing the weight after decades of yo-yo dieting. Persistance is the key...or so the clinic says....

Hey yaw!

I stayed away from Wally World this weekend. But I did eat out a lot this passed weekend. I had a piece of fried fish on Friday. Some Barbeque on Saturday ( what can I say I'm from Kansas City) and I had a Quiznos flatbread salad. Boy do I need restriction.

Great - now I'm humming "Kansas City"...

Pan fried or deep fried? I MUCH prefer pan fried - less fat too.

But yes, it does seem that you may need some restriction...

Hey Tapshoes,

I don't know exactly how they fried it all I know is the fish was light and yummy. It was orange roughy. I know I was born and raise in barbeque city. I love Gates barbeque. But yes I need restriction like yesterday. I hope you're doing fine.

RSG - I guess I will have to venture to a chain grocery store...neither of the 2 independent grocery stores near me had endamame. On to a major chain retailer this week.

I'm sorry tapshoes. I didn't think they would be cultural....well I guess they are. Since I first had them at a sushi restuarant.

I love sushi.

I am having roast beef for lunch. I'm excited since I had a handful of chips for Breakfast. I was hungry and they were free. Hopefully they don't ruin my day.

I am hungry can you tell. S t a r v i n g.

Tomorrow is weigh day...but I'm thinking of skipping it since I have some major PMS.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
