Shelly - pump up your Proteins - throw some Protein powder into your liquids.

Smith - Cookie free for a week - YEAH!!! Ice cream 3X??

SNT - Suffering last meal syndrome???

Joanne - yes, it is best if you can avoid your 'guilty pleasure'; you have great will power!

Ezma - substitutions are good...keep it up!

RSG - You are doing good on the ice-cream. Maybe one addiction at a time is the best approach. You can do this; I believe in you.

Thanks Taps.

I am proud of the icecream shortage...I wish the scale would go down. I want to lose at least three lbs before my fill at least. Oh well.

I am concentrating on icecream and then I will concentrate on niccotine.

Afterwards, the WORLD :-)

Afterwards, the WORLD :-)

What do you wanna do tonight Ready?

I did good again. It was so hard to resist last night. After taking hubby to the ER and having him checked in to the hospital it would have been so easy to have a little pity party. But I made it! Woo hoo!! Go team go!

 Hi everyone! I wanted to add that I had a weak moment over the weekend. I had nothing in the house, and wanted to go get something at Cold Stone...Love that place way too much.

DH said, "NO. You don't want that."

Well, I hate it when people do that. YES, I DO want that, you hateful bastard! *stamps foot*. But, he just stared me down and I didn't do it. (loving him and hating him.)

Thank goodness! I feel great.

Cold Stone is my absolute favorite. I am so glad we don't have one here.

I didn't do good today avoiding Baskins and Robbins. I took care of my grandson after work and tues is that $1.00 special for one scoop. At least it's only one scoop though. It would have been much worse if it had been cold stone.

Glou - good to see you posting. And yes, having someone tell you want you want (or feel) is VERY annoying. It puts my back up too.

Thinner - did you have a cone? or just a scoop of the icecream in a container?

RSG - When is your fill? Losing 3 pounds is a good goal - although my recent experiences is weight loss would make it seem almost impossible!!

OK VVs - are soy nuts considered nuts? I was going to have a few last evening, and then said, wait...although they are not a nut-nut, but rather a soybean, maybe this would be the same thing. So, I promised I would ask for your opinions.

I think you have to ask yourself at least these two things. Will it kick in your addiction to nuts and make you crave them more? And is this how you want to spend the calories? I looked up the nutrition for soy nuts though I'm not sure that the ones you have are the same.

1/2 cup as in 86gm roasted soynuts contains

Calories: 387

Protein: 34g

Carbohydrate: 28g

Total Fat: 18.6g

Fiber: 7.0g

Ultimately you're the only one that will really know. I think substitutions are a perfectly wonderful way to work this craving thing. I had sherbet last night. And while it doesn't have the fat that ice cream does, which is part of what I'm trying to avoid, I think it triggers me the same as ice cream so I count it the same thing. Now the strawberries and ricotta cream I had, I don't think of as the same kind of trigger. I was rich and creamy and cold but it wasn't frozen and it was too rich tasting to eat bowl after bowl.

I caved! DH, after all his strength this weekend, went out and got ice cream. He has an ear infection and a sore throat and wanted something to soothe it. :cursing: I had some.

So, today my count is back to 0 days without ice cream.

Oh Ezma, such a sensible answer! I was hoping for a "You go girl! Eat 'em by the bucket because they are NOT a nut, and are nutritious and miraculously have no calories!"

I knew there was a reason why I didn't research the nutrition component (bad Tap), and why I subconsciously knew not to eat them (good Tap).

So I guess they will be used sparingly as a fibre crunch to a salad or something, but not be a snack.< /p>

It's all DH's fault!!

Just start over, Glou. We have all been there....

Ezma- You inspire me. How is the Hubby?

Tapshoes- Hidden calories suck. Is it the crunch and the salt that you crave you think? My fill is at 3:30, so I am skipping lunch so I can leave at 2:45 so I have time to cash my check before going up there. Crossing my fingers that I haven't gained since last time I was there....please please please. I hate the way they look at me when I haven't lost enough weight...then again it might all be in my head.

Glou- Everytime you fall off the wagon you realize how much stronger you have to hold on. Don't fret it.

I feel exactly the same way...I'm better off doing without totally than to try to have just a little bit, or a substitute. I have heard, read and been told that if you crave something you should have a small taste so you can get your head back to thinking of something other than the food you want, but it has always backfired on me. I've never been happy with just a little bit. Hence the lapband! It keeps me from pigging out. :cursing:

Gotta Luv That Band!!!!! Joanie )

I had a one scoop ice cream cone. I would have been fine if I hadn't passed basin and robbins on my way home from taking care of my grandson. Out of sight, out of mind.

I really need to convince myself that I should not even indulge once a week. Actually, it's been a few weeks since I stopped there. I have heard that freezing low carb slim fast is good. I should try that.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
