Nipple piercing

Recommended Posts

Any of you ladies out there with your nipples pierced? I've been contemplating it for a while now. I have pretty flat nipples (not exactly inverted just flat) and I am wondering if getting them pierced will make them seem less ... flat.

Thoughts, opinions, advice?

Nipple piercing can interfer with breastfeeding, I don't know if you were thinking of having a baby in the future.

I actually pierced mine for that very reason, mine actually were INVERTED!! Even aroused they barely laid flat (I hate my boobs in all ways).

It definitely does make them stand out, even when I take mine out they go back to inverted.. with them in, they look full and poked out.

Pain wasn't THAT bad having it done, but healing is a major pain. I've had mine for years, and my left one still isn't done healing. If I put the piercing in it gets warm and hurts till I take it out. I only keep my right one in at all times.

That's actually not true, I researched that before ever getting mine done. As long as it's not infected (re: pierced right before breastfeeding), and they don't pierce it too close to the boob (which any reputable piercer knows not to do this, as that's not where it's suppose to be), there is no problem breastfeeding with pierced nipples, you just need to take the jewelry out when breastfeeding so that it does not hurt their mouth.

OUCH!!!!! Double OUCH!!!!

Heh, actually I don't expect it to really hurt. I had a breast reductioin 7 yrs ago and they had to detach/reattach my nipples so I don't have my sensation there anyways.

Yah, like FF mentioned I think they have disproven this but I can't breastfeed anyways (due to the surgery mentioned above) but thanks for the concern on that regardless!

I've heard healing is a bit of a pain. Do you have a ring or barbell? And it's nice to hear that it does make a difference with flat/inverted nipples because I hate that look too.

They put hoops in originally, which I think hurt because of the tilted angles on the edges.. when I was able to change them out I put in barbells (small ones, that just barely fit, so that there's no clunky jewelry, it just keeps my nipples erect). So, I have barbells and prefer them. If you do decide to do this, ask if they can pierce with barbells, I may have asked for the hoops thinking they looked better.. but for healing, barbells are a lot nicer because they don't pull.

Am I the only one reading this thread with my arms crossed protectively across my chest??? As an old broad, I just can't imagine it - but hey, that's what makes life interesting!

i used to have both my nipples pierced, but took them out. i started out with the hoops and hated them, especially when it came to "cleaning" time. barbells are the best, and IMO i think pierced nipples look cuter with the barbells. :tt2:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
