First Fill

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I need a little help. I just had my first fill yesterday and ate my first real meal. I am not sure if I overate or if I did not chew well. I ending up hurting and spitting up alot of slimy stuff. How do you tell if you are full? I cannot seem to stop the burping of the stuff and then throwing up more. Other things like yogurt and liquids had no problem.

I just got my 1st fill yesterday also, but my fill center said i had to be on liquids for 48hrs so i really can't help as far as the knowing when your full but i think what your doing is slimming(sp) you should try to eat slower and chew well if that doesn't work i would call your Dr. you could be to tight.

Your band is probably to tight. You also have to really chew your food. Your portions should be the size of a fingernail. Little bites. Chew...Chew...Chew. You will have a strong battle with "HEAD HUNGER" I know I did. I really had to pay attention to what my stomach was saying and not what my head was saying. Ask yourself after a couple of bites....Am I really still hungry or is my mind just telling me I am? You will begin to notice a difference. By taking small bites you are actually giving your mind a chance to catch up with your sensors to realize that you are full. Pretty neat but frustrating. This will cut down on the sliming if your band is not to tight.

Also Drink some warm liquid if you start feeling like your going to slime. The warm liquid loosens the band.

The fill needle? Don't look at it when you go. I had my first fill on Aug. 20th and it was completely painless. The only time I hear of people experiencing pain, is when the person doing the fill can't find the port. Many people use a numbing agent before sticking you, but my PA didn't and it still was painless. Don't worry, and look at the ceiling, not the needle.:crying:

Yes that is a concern. My Dr says he has done under 50 fills. So I expect he'll be digging around with that HUGE needle, that arent going to use a numbing agent. Yes I asked.

I had my first fill last week and experienced the same thing with solid food until I realized that I had to eat slower more than anything else. It took me about 35 minutes to eat half of a hamburger last night, but it went well.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
