Ok everyone....I had my sleep study a couple of weeks ago and was given the verdict today. The doctor that ordered my sleep study confirmed that I do have sleep apnea. He wants me to go back for a sleep titration. The sleep lab is supposed to call me to set up an appointment. This is somewhat good news but also bad. It's good because it's a comorbidity that qualifies me with my insurance to get banded. However, I am sad to be diagnosed with this problem. My hubby has sleep apnea and hates his mask. He looks so uncomfortable sleeping with a huge mask on his face. I am just hoping that after I get banded and lose weight that I don't have to use the machine any longer. Ha, look, I don't even have the darn machine yet and I am already hoping that I don't have to use it forever. Anywho, this puts me a step closer to get banded!! WHOO HOO!

So many mixed emotions.....

Look at the bright side of the Apnea. Once you get the band and loose weight the Apnea may also go away.

i also have to sleep on the machine and so does my husband. He uses it everynight and cant rest with out it. i dont use mine all the time. All I have is the nose pillows and they are comfortful and you can sit and watch TV in bed with not problem. I had the one that went over my nose but I didnt like it. They will let you pick which one you want. Also you will have to sleep on the machine 2 weeks at least 7 hours a day or night before the will release you to have your surgury. They put a card in the back of your machine, it looks like a credit card and after the 2 weeks you take it out and mail it in to the doctor and they download it and can tell if and when you wore it. They know if you had the nose piece on or if you just had your machine running. They are real smart. My husband had to do his a extra 2 weeks because his card was not pushed in all the way and there was nothing for them to read. I had my surgury on Aug. 22 and my husband is having his Oct.6. Good luck!

You've managed your life this long without the machine. We never had them years ago and people lived. And I"m sure in a few months, you are going to be at a healthier weight where the sleep apnea isn't going to be a problem. Chalk this one up as a small blessing to push the approval through your insurance a little easier! :)

I also have sleep apnea. Pretty sever in fact. I stop breathing an average of 136 times an hour, for about 30 seconds each time. So you can guess how much rest I was getting at night. I had the big clunky mask at first, and it was really hard to get used to. But I tell you, I sleep better now then I ever have. Once I got used to the mask, I felt more energetic. It really makes a difference when you're well rested. You may sleep 6, 8, 10 hours a night, but do you feel like you really slept well? Or do you wake up still tired?

My mask was hurting me, so I stopped wearing it, and waited for the company to come out and fit me with a new one. During that time, I didn't realize how much not using it was affecting me. When I got my new mask (a nasal pillow that sits under my nose, totally comfy), I slept like a log. I'm back to getting my full nights sleep.

Hang in there, its tough to get started. But after you get used to it, it really is worth it. You'll sleep like a baby, and through the night. That was the big thing for me, always waking up. This fixed it.

Good luck to you, and God bless you.

I have CPAP too and hate it! I don't wear mine all the time. It's not really that bad. Maybe I should ask the company about prongs or the nose pillow. I still don't wake up refreshed. Maybe it doesn't fit right. My brat husband calls me darth vador. Nice huh?

I had severe apnea too which in some ways made it much easier for me to get used to the machine/mask. I think because I was really missing that good night of sleep and really wanted it I was able to adjust easier.

I also joined CPAPTALK.com when I first got mine and it helped me through many questions I had at the time and they were very nice.

My mask covers my nose only but I put my hair in a ponytail at night so that the gear goes over my head easier and flip the hose over my head when I sleep. I know it's a pain and I look like Squidward from Spongebob but at least both you and your husband have them and can look cute together! Good luck and hope you feel and sleep better soon Nancy.:crying:

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
