Snapdragon 0 Posted September 2, 2008 These were the words my husband said to me today during our carpool ride. I was driving and he had just complimented me on how "awesome" I looked (Wearing a size 18 dress today - down from a 30/32!). I thanked him and moments later starting saying, "Look at my legs? There are so many scars. So many scratches from the cat." And then I added, "I shouldn't wear short sleeves, look at my fat arms - they're so....gross." I really wasn't looking for a response from him, since this is my usual routine - to tear myself apart and tear myself down. Those negative tapes, sigh, they've been playing for so long. Then, out of nowhere, my husband says, "You're so beautiful, Erica. Just be beautiful. That's all you have to do." My devoted, handsome, awesome husband. So wise. What he said was so simple and yet it was so earnest. It was almost like he was pleading with me to just believe in myself, to see what he sees, to like myself. I sat there at the red light stunned. After a moment I turned to him and just said, "Okay. I can do that." and he smiled and off we went. Today I'm turning off the negative tapes. I can do that for myself. I can do that for him. So ladies (and gents), in the wise words of my husband, "Just be beautiful" today. Make it a great one!

Hollie519 1 Posted September 2, 2008 I have battled with self-esteem for years. When I was 8 years old i knew I was fat and used to pray to God to help me eat right an exercise everyday. Even today, I still look at my body in disgust. But my mom gave me this book on tape that is supposed to be like the secret 2. It has helped me A LOT and I just finished chapter 4. It also has helped me let go of a lot of stress as well. I believe its called A New Earth. I'm not into self-help books but this one actually interested and helped me a lot. jazie 0 Posted September 2, 2008 Thank you for sharing that. Not all husbands are that supportive. I always thought I was so lucky because my husband of 44 years is so supportive, but I can't see him saying something like that! That is Great! Keep the good thoughts. jazie

A lot less 1 Posted September 2, 2008 Thanks, Snapdragon, It is so good that others can see the outter beauty of us. We are our hardest critics because we have seen ourselves heavy for so long. I still see myself heavy and when ppl say I look nice, I downplay it. To hear your DH say those words I'm sure put the wind in your sail. :tt1:I pledge to be beautiful today and tomorrow, and forevermore..

OH Juli 15 Posted September 2, 2008 We are all beautiful and it's so hard to let the other stuff get in the way of seeing it. Good Hubby, and good you for saying, "yeah, I am beautiful." Awe......this makes my day.
DivaStyleCoach 89 Posted September 3, 2008 Dear Snapdragon, I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes...your hubby sounds so special! It wasn't until just now that I realized that my DH of 18 years often says very similar things to me...why was I not hearing him? Tell your hubby thanks for me and I'm sure for all the others who will read your post and smile. The last thing my DH said to me this morning was "Have fun - I love you!" Many of us don't think about having "fun" during our days because we have to "work"...but I promised myself I would concentrate on having fun today. And I found an opportunity to smile at a young child on the train today, to pat an inquisitive puppy on my walk from the bus stop to my building, and to say a hearty "Good morning" to the friendly security guard in my building who always has a cheerful lilt in her voice. Thank you for another reminder of how wonderful our lives can be...Thank you!
