wow, this is such a relief to have (very nice) people to visit with that is going thru what I am. I'm a 46 mother of 3 daughters and then 3 foreign exchange students, 1 son-in-law and the most important 1 granddaughter and 1 one the way. 'The Princess' was not impressed about the new brother or sister. She's 3 and very used to being the Queen! I have the support of my husband, kids, and my sisters on having surgery. My mom doesn't know, she would have a cow! She's like 100 lbs, and just doesn't understand why one of my sister and I have a weight problem. I guess she doesn't remember my dads side of the family-hahaha- senior moments, I guess. As far as I know my insurance has said yes. I have a friend who did the banding and stapling- that's not for me! I tried to talk her out of having the stapling kind of surgery but... well I am so glad to meet all of you and will keep you posted, I go for more tests this next week to Lubbock, there sure is alot of test to do. Did everyone have tests, echo, lab, chest x-rays, etc?? And I'm trying (my hardest) to quit smoking not just for surgery (but may be an incenntive! -wish me luck! 237 lbs nana

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
