Hi.. Most people call me Coco, so here I am.

Almost 32, and at a weight that I am frightened and disgusted by. I really want to do this. I was recommended by zeama. I've seen some of her pics and she is looking great.

I hope to get that feeling soon too. I'm at a point where if I didn't ahve to work outside the home, I don't think I'd leave my house, that's how ashamed I am. :tt2:

But this will be my move to change those feelings.

I've been looking in the forums and such for info, and my head is spinning.

I'm looking at doctors so far. I'm seeing Dr. Garber and Dr. Geiss coming up.

I'm going to be going to my doc on Sunday so I can get the ball rolling. I'll get my referral then I guess. I'm going to call both Dr. offices later today to get some basic info.

Thats great, once you get the ball rolling it all seems to flow, from what i've read on here, it is all done quite differently all over the US, being from New Zealand it is a totally different story anyway, its all self pay done privately, i've done all the pre appointments just waiting till they have their meeting today then i will find out when my date is, then i start the god awful 2 week diet:thumbs_down: not looking forward to that bit but hey a means to an end and all that, keep me posted on how you go :tt2:

Not sure if you're in the city, or nearby, but Dr. Ren at NYU is supposed to be great. I got banded in Mexico, and went back there for my first fill, but I'm planning to have my next fill with Dr. Ren.

Hang in there - the band will change your life!

I live in Long Island, Nassau Cty.

I wouldn't mind doing the city really, but if I can get someone closer to home, that would work better for me.

I won't rule it out though, I'm seeing really good things about the NYU docs also.

I am being banded Oct 6 in NYU. The office isn't bad other then being soooo small. I am using Dr. Fielding he is really nice. I am glad I made this choice for surgery and I can't wait to start my life a new.

I also am from NY upstate. I am going to Albany Med for my operation. I am in the begining stages. I have all my required appointments set up and am on my way to losing 10% of my body weight. I am excited, scared and nervious. I know it is alot of work. But will be well worth it in the end.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
