The Wrong Day To Give Up Junk Food

Recommended Posts

Well ladies and gentlemen, I started the day with very good intentions and ended up in my bathtub with a bowl of ice cream. Today I went to work and promised Lisa/Delarla that I would give up junk food with her....but then I was informed that I was being let go from my job. Apparently the company I worked for has decided that it can't support my salary anymore. Just one more lovely event in this really bad couple of weeks i have had. Sorry Lisa. I'll try no more junk food again tomorrow.

Heather,

Sorry about your job. The same thing happened to me at the beginning of April and I just started a new job last week. I did get back at my company by getting both mine and my husbands lap-band surgeries before my insurance expired on the last day of April. Eat ice cream, you deserve it!

You are so excused. Remind me, what was your job? Are you done? Is it official and no work tomorrow? I hope it's easy enough to find another one. Let us know how it's going!!

That sucks! Don't put too many demands on yourself during such a difficult time -- you've already got a lot to think about. I hope you find a new, and better, job soon. Meanwhile, you deserve a little pampering, and if ice cream is a part of that, no one will hold it against you.

BTW, the title of your message made me think of Leslie Nielsen in "Airplane" -- is that what you had in mind?

Leslie Neilson is what I had in mind. Yes it is official no work today unless you count beating the streets for a job. Wish me luck. By the way I do real estate loan closings and also have experience in servicing mortgage loans for Fannie Mae.....soooo if anybody has a wonderful job out there I would love to hear about it.

Thanks Guys

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
