Hi Everybody, I'm new to this site and I'm so glad to have found it. I just went to my first information seminar and is presently waiting to for my first appointment at Beth Israel Deconess Medical Ctr in Boston. I'm so ready for this. I've been reading alot of comments on this site and from what I gather, it won't be easy but in time well worth it.

Welcome to your new journey! It really is "do-able". I had my surgery last Tuesday, totally off pain meds after day 4, and enjoying coffee in the morning again. Start stocking your pantry little by little with broth, soups, slim fast, etc. These support groups help alot.

good luck!

Hi there, I have just decided to join an online support group as I work a lot and have not had time to go to the support group my hospital had. I had band put in a year ago and I just wanted to talk to people to see how they are going and to hear about other peoples experiences.

Hi,

I did the Beth Israel program and am happy I did. Can't say that I enjoyed all of it but they seem to know what they're doing. You may have some initial frustration with the pace of things, but once you get a fill that works it really changes your eating habits.

I am 6 months out of surgery and am only now making some really good progress. Good luck.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
