I'm just curious as to what everyone here Snacks on? I mean, to get rid of that 'hunger' or 'craving' that one can get in between meals.....I was thinking something like a few cubes of cheese or string cheese, a small yogurt, but I'm looking for healthy, quick and convenient ideas, if everyone would be so kind as to share.

Thanks in advance!

Oh, and have i told everyone that I LOVE THIS SITE? All the support, ideas and just uplifting words! Thank you everyone!

I have been trying to break the snacking habit.

I have a fish bowl 1/2 full with slips of paper, each paper has a different activity on it, from doing a set of arm curls, walking around the block, playing a game on the computer, writing a letter via snail mail to a friend....I have things from the outrageous (look for a new "Oscar" dress online) to something I've put off, like organizing a drawer.

When ever my munchie train needs to be derailed, I reach into my fish bowl.

What a fabulous idea! I too am trying (not always successfully) to break the head-hunger/munchie madness. I've tried to pick up doing my various crafts etc, but in the summer it just doesn't have any appeal. This idea of yours though may just be the thing I need...THANKS!

well if my head needs something (which it usually does a few times a week) i have a skinny cow ice cream (80 cals) or if i'm really craving junk food i'll have a weight watcher frozen dessert. Head hunger is the one thing i still struggle with---especially while watching tv at night. i don't usually snack too much during the day.

Yeah, night time is the worse time for the snacking cravings to start.

I eat sugar free popcilsles and sf fudgesicles, somethings SF choc. pudding. In between meals if I am hungry I eat almonds string cheese or a lite yogurt.

Doc fusses at me BIG TIME for snacking. No Snacks allowed. But, when I mess up , I usually eat string cheese, or those little triangle shaped, lite, foil wrapped cheese that comes in the round box. A handful of almonds or a small piece of fruit.< /p>

Those are laughing cow cheese. I spread that on Kellogs garlic & herb

Fiber crackers which are pretty low calorie for crackers.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
