So Is The Chicken, Fish, etc. Going To B Wet

Recommended Posts

in order for me to get it down.

I remember reading a post that said the meats need to be wet.

I don't think I can handle that if that's the case. I have to have my food well done.

I'm still before my first fill, but I've not had any trouble with chicken. It should not be so well done that it is tough and dry, but I don't think anyone is suggesting that we eat undercooked meats. I have read that microwaved, reheated chicken is sometimes hard to eat because it does tend to get dry that way. Small bites and chew til applesauce consistency - if you can't chew it up that well it might be better to spit it out.

I eat everything well done. I figured that meant with broth, salsa, low fat gravy or some such. Not raw.

At first I was able to eat anything, but now that I'm at 5.5cc in a 8cc band, I can no longer eat things that are dry, that includes chicken breast and steak. I can eat some steak that is med well, but hate all the chewing that I have to do to get it to go down and then some times it just has a hard time, so I have found myself avoiding those foods and eat the sides. It's all worth it tho, since I am now finally 189lbs....down 42lbs since starting this process.

You learn as you go as to what your band will allow you to eat.

If I'm not mistaken, "being wet" means that it has to be creamy. That way when it goes down, it wont get stuck (if you eat slow and small amounts). I had grilled chicken with lemon pepper seasoning last night, used some chicken broth to puree it with. It was really good. I think

that with it being pureed, it actually brought the taste of the chicken

out more. I'm wanting to try a pork chop 2morrow, not sure what liquid

to puree it with though.

I eat everything well done. However, it doesn't have to be very dry, it is more difficult to eat this way. I actually like a little yogurt near meat sometimes and that helps as well.

When I was on mushys, I had to make my chicken into chicken salad with mayo. It can still be cooked well done, just has to be shredded into little pieces and creamed with mayo or something.

I absolutely cannot stand Mayonnaise and the thought gives me nausea! LOL but low fat gravies, etc will work too I'd guess.

Yeh, that's what I meant. Do you have to mix it with broth, salsa, low fat gravy, etc.? Wet- meaning in those things- not raw. lol sorry.

Dry meat will get stuck very easily. If it does, moistening it with something is the way to avoid that. I keep fat free gravy on hand, and also different kinds of salsa. For roast pork or pork chops, unsweetened applesauce works great. I like my steak medium rare, so it's moist enough and doesn't cause me any problems, but pork and chicken I reach for the sauce......

I am at 2.25 cc in a 4 cc band and I have full restriction. I can eat any meats dry or not. But I find it more enjoyable and easier to eat when it's accompanied with something like a sauce or light gravy.

I have gotten stuck on dry chicken once or twice but for the most part I can eat all meats including steaks. I choose tender cuts of steak, I buy chicken breasts and grill them until just done (overcooking them just a little can cause problems). I have never gone wrong with chicken tenders, they are always very juicy and tender. I have not gotten stuck on fish once and I eat it a lot of that now. I do not like to add gravy, Mayonnaise or other sauces because it adds fat and calories. If you choose the right cuts of meat, do not overcook it and take small bites/chew well, you might be just fine.

DON'T EAT RAW CHICKEN!!!

And army.. you have a large band and no fill, that is why you don't feel anything, nothing to be concerned about.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
