i was in the store with my bf and he did a double take after he kissed me and then smelled his breath, and i said.. "was it me?" and he said "i don't know...breath on me" and i said..."are you SURE??? what if it IS ME? u wanna do that?" and he said "hurry up, someone is coming!" lol...so i did a huff and run and he SAID NOTHING. lol. he finally admitted that it was my breath and it smelled BAD.

LOL woooooow.

does this have to do with the liquid diet? losing weight???? LOL. i am so scared, i haven't done anything differently in my hygienic life!! lol. i even brushed my teeth before i came to see him! jeezuus. LOL.

please...tell me its NOT me and this isn't going to happen forever lol.

i immediately pulled out some gum and bought mini altoids. damn it~! lol.

It is probably from the diet, especially if you are consuming very low carbs. This puts you in ketosis and you will emit a smell from your breath. This is from burning the fat/losing weight. Sorry, but at least you are losing weight. It should go away after surgery around the time you can have mushies. You will probably begin consuming more carbs.

thank you. lol. =/ during the time he walked away, he was pondering on whether or not to tell me and see if he could live with it for the rest of his life, not telling me. LOL.

good to know that once more foods are introduced, the fumes will be, also.

<3 thank u lol.

i told him in the store... i can't wait to get to a computer, i know where i need to go and who i need to talk to lol.

I am finishing up day 7 on my liquid diet and yes, the breath stinks. Some sugar free gum should do the trick. I am down to 307lbs, down from 322lbs. in 7 days.

Yup, sounds like you are in ketosis. The pre-op will do that to you but it is a sign of fat burning. It's one of the reasons I don't like to do an Atkins-style diet, after banding. It's useful for the pre-op phase, to reduce the fat in the liver and make the operation easier on you, but long-term, I don't like the bad breath and BO that go with ketosis (or the potential for kidney stones). Take it as a sign of success for now and then rethink your strategies after you have finished with the liquid and mushie stages of post-op healing.

I found once I hit the mushies stage the bad breath went... thank goodness. When on the liquid stage nothing would make it go ie; mouthwash, cleaning the tongue and constant brushing. It's horrendous but it thankfully doesn't last.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
