Darn I posted a nice answer and my computer ate it or something.

Your doc is pretty tough if s/he requires 4 whole weeks on liquids; I know we need to be on liquids for a while to heal. That's usually (average) 2 weeks and they call it "bandster hell"...but for some it's less, and some it's more. I'd say to call your doc and plead your case. It's safest to do it that way. Because I know I had my band Friday and I COULD eat a nice juicy steak right now but it would probably rip my band free of where it was sutured, so I'm sticking with Water and broth.< /p>

My Dr., Keith Chung from Lake Charles La. only required 2 weeks also. I found the second week the hardest. but I stuck it out.. Hang in there, it is worth it.

I had a 3 week, modified full liquid post-op regimine. Basically Clear Liquids plus Protein drinks...not even Soup (aside from broth). Energy level was an issue, but I soldiered through.

I was banded on August 20th. I have 5 stages to go through, all being 1 week long each. Right now I am on my full liquid stage and on tuesday will be moving onto pureed foods. Right now I am eating yogurt and creamy soups. The creamy soups are more filling then just the broths. I can't wait to start on more of a solid food, it can't come soon enough! Good luck, and keep us posted on your progress!

I would follow your doctors instructions, however, 4 weeks seems like a long time for liquids. I was on clear liquids for 2 days, full liquids for 1 week, mushies for 2 weeks and then soft textures for a week and moving into full food options.

Liquids are the hardest phase. I know that you need them for your band to have time to heal, but 4 weeks seems like a long time! They don't want your stomach moving around to digest food, that way the band can heal more quickly.

I noticed that you have already dropped a lot of weight, WTG! Hang in there and you will get through this stage and be to mushies and soft textures in no time. This is just a short phase we have to go through for healing to take place!

im not debating the doctors advice but the doctor his generalizing the instructions for all people ... but just like some people are more or less sensitive to pain meds and drugs the same goes for healing. im sure when he says a month of full liquids its to help promote healing but even now the pain of my cars are nearly gone and im back to my pre op activitiesschedual... with little pain... and the fact is that im not getting enough energy to do that... im going to call the doc but a full month each day as i get busier and busier is looking like a finish line i wont be able to hit with the full liquids.... I have a very demanding job that requires alot of energy especially seeming as though apparently when i took off all hell broke loose... and it seems to me that all the required diets are not the same. so i guess ill just have to play it by ear

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
