kdlee - lol I probably should have mentioned it. I forgot I have a different pic on my myspace. :cool2:

The classes are beside Nohe Office Supply in Parkersburg at the Tai kwan do (spelling?) place. Its at 7pm. There are no men there....its all women. So you dont feel embarressed or anything. The women that are there dont make you feel bad at all.....the skinniest lady there is a lot older....probably 60's. The rest are heavier trying to lose weight. So I didnt feel bad at all.

It would be great if you were there! I will definetly be there on Monday! I love it! Im wore out when I leave...but its great! The teacher is really great too!

Parking is in Nohe Office's parking. (I had no idea when I first went.) lol I parked across the street.

Froggi- You're welcome for the powder. I hope you will be able to use it. Thanks for the compliments. :cool2: You'll be in bandland before you know it!

Thank you again...I can't wait until I start preop!!! Tomorrow is my last day of 6 month diet yay. I've been exercising extra hard hoping to break my little plateau I've hit. Hope I am doing into the 380's...I'd be so happy.

Elizabeth- Jeannie had talked about a clothing swap at the group meetings. I could bring some things to the next one if you're going to be there.

I'm happy Jeannie mentioned my idea at the meetings. Good to know she thinks it's a good idea and I think it would be very helpful for us all. It's not easy to buy new clothes every couple weeks with how expensive things are nowadays. Hand-me-downs are perfect.;)

I got the idea from the clothing xchange group on here. People had been sending me clothes through the mail and I thought it would be much easier to get clothes from people around here going through the same things as us:thumbup::cool2: Glad you like it.

Ok I gotta brag. Even though I am not seeing a difference in the scale, my clothes are getting baggy. I put a pair of jeans on today that I havent had on since last winter, and you know when you put a pair of jeans on right out of the dryer you have to stretch them and do squats and stuff. Well at least I did, I didnt have to do that with these jeans, I just put them on and they are actually a little baggy WHOO HOO.. Its weird that Im not dropping the pounds, but my clothes are getting baggy. Maybe it is all in my head or something I dunno, but I think my clothes are getting big. Just wish the scales would show it.

Froggi- Good luck! I'm having a hard time exercising. I've never been consistent at it. It's not that I don't like it. I guess that I just don't take the time to make it part of my routine.

WVU-Fan- I will be there on Monday! It sounds like a lot of fun! I'm looking forward to it!!!

Elizabethdb - Congrats!!! You are losing inches! If you are exercising you may be building muscle...which weighs more than fat and is more compact. Great Job! It will eventually show on the scales! :w00t:

Kdlee- GREAT!! I'll see you there! Its a lot of fun! And great motivation....im one of those that will "rest" during an exercise tape. lol But if im around a bunch of people...I'll nearly kill myself trying to keep up so I dont look stupid. lol

That's great! Even though I've only lost 17 lbs since surgery, I've lost a lot of sizes. It's weird how it works!

Good morning, everyone! I wasn't sure if you all read the thread NascarFan posted in. Here it is. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f266/wish-you-luck-67871/ . She isn't doing so great. She's having lots of nausea. :tongue2:

Elizabeth- I'm going to bring some clothes with me to the next support group meeting. Some size 22 and 24 pants. If they'll fit you, you can have them!

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Seems it would be more compassionate not to perform a WLS on someone until they are mentally ready for it. Unless of course they are on death's door...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
