There is a lot of gas after this surgery. They actually pump gas into your belly to expand it for surgery. Right after surgery I stayed full. I couldnt even get my liquids in I would take a tiy sip and that would be all it took. Your stomach is mad right now and swollen and all that lovely stuff. Thats why they want us to do liquids for the first 2 weeks and then purees. Everything is just mad its been worked on and now there is a foreign object on the stomach. Just take it easy, you will eventually get nice and hungry :( then it will be getting time for a fill. Hang in there. Like my mom and I kept telling ourselves during this stage "This to will pass"

LOL that was cute, So even though I have some hunger pains but mostly gas, I should just do my best to concentrate on clears and not worry about Protein Shakes things like that until my tummy is a bit less mad at me?

I dunno. When they first started doing it here they started Protein on day 1, I guess now they are telling people to wait a couple days to a week before worrying about getting the protein in. I guess it depends on the doctor as to when they want you to start on the protein.

My stomach must not have a temper - I've had no problems whatsoever, except for burping at lot. I'm so hungry I could eat a horse and wondering if they even put anything in there -

Some people are like that. I heard people in support group not even a week after their surgeries complaining about how hungry they were. I didnt even have an appetite for a couple weeks. Are you getting enough Protein? I know they say that protein keeps you from being hungry, I dont think it helps me though. I dont know what to tell ya, Im sorry. Drink lots of fluids.

We had a good meeting tonight. Big group and several new faces. The topic was "Open forum" her speaker backed out at last minute so we just did an open forum type thing. It was good. Next month she will have some doctor there, I didnt reconize his name, and will talk about marriage with the changes and stuff. I think I will stay out of that one due to the fact that I am VERY single. Anyway, for you newbees it was great seeing you

Sorry we missed you guys at the meeting. I didn't get home from work until 6:30. The 6pm meeting time is almost impossible during the winter months for me to make because I work in Athens and it seems all the students here want to come into the clinic at 5pm! It may be March before I make the next one. I have all my required meetings in. My husband has one more.

I had my first official visit yesterday. We went over my history and set a goal weight for me to reach in two years. I have actually losted a few pounds since going to the doctor last time, but with the weather it is hard to keep up with my walks outside.

Good for you! Do you have to diet for 6 months now with Lindsey? Time will go by fast. I know what you mean about the weather. I have been having the munchies and a little sweet tooth. sugar free pudding or something like that helps the sweet tooth, havent found anything for the munchies yet. Good luck

Jeanne submitted me to insurance on 01-16-09. I found out today they needed more information and Jeanne has to send a letter of medical necessity. Brenda told me she'd let me know when it was time to worry LOL

Hope everybody is doing good!

Lindsey changed me to once a month for weigh in.....I guess they are getting quite busy now and their schedules are getting pretty full. She changed me at my last weigh in from every 2 wks to once a month.

I am thankful there is only 3 more........I have tomorrow and then March & April. :( And your right......I am closer. It just feels like it has been forever...

Congrats on hitting your sweet spot!!!! 2 lbs a week is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Jennifer! Have you heard anything more yet? Good Luck!!!!

Insurance sent it back asking for more information; they wanted my whole weight history and something else. Yesterday Brenda said that Jeanne had resubmitted me and submitted my husband, but Aetna has no record of it. I hate to keep calling Jeanne because I know she's busy though, but I'm more than ready and hate not knowing what's going on. I have my payment ready too. So basically, I dunno:confused:

I have to do the 6 month with Lindsey and also have the physc evaluation set up. Brenda has been out of the office so it will be another week when I have those appointments set up.

Have you tried the Protein bullits? My dr said I shouldn't loose any hair at all. I found a place I can get them online and have a code to make shipping cost $1.00, if your interested let me know and I'll post it.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
