Can you believe that i actually cant remember?!

I dont think I applied anything to my incisions - maybe vit E oil after they were closed.

You may want to call your sugeons office and get their input. I certainly wouldnt put anything on my wounds until the steri strips fell off!

I did not use anything, three of the four incisions are so small I can not even find them, the other is only about 1/2 inch long and it blends in with my stretch marks so I can hardly see it either.

I put a light coating of Neosporin over the steri strips until they fell off, or curled up so bad I carefully removed them. I also had some steri strips leftover from my C-section so I was able to replace the strips on my port incision, which hadn't closed completely. I wouldn't start using the Mederma until all scabs are gone from the incisions, even in the corners. Check the packaging to be sure, but the Mederma shouldn't be put on until the wound is totally closed. I take that to mean no more scabs, even tiny ones?

You definately want to keep each incision clean and dry, with a light coat of antibiotic ointment, to keep the itching to a minimum as it heals. That's what I think, check with your doc if you are worried though.

I didn't have to use anything. Mine healed quickly and are mostly gone except for my port scar, and it gets lighter all the time.

Me three! I literally cannot find one of my scars, though I have a general idea where it should be. Two others are virtually invisible. The port scar gets harder to find all the time.

As scars go, these are NOTHING to worry about. :D

Actually, be careful with neosporin ointment. Lots of people are allergic to it, and don't figure it out until it is almost too late. I've also heard reports that it will disolve the glue used to glue us back together.

You don't need any antibiotic ointments unless you have an active infection.

After my strips fell off I used the neosporin cream on the incisions. It helped them from itching so much.

Yes, I heard that about Neosporin and bought Polysporin (recommended instead) and used that at first but I think tubes have gotten moved around from the batrooms to the kitchen drawer to the changing table. I am certain I have, at some point, used Neosporin. hmmm. I had steri strips and not glue and it has turned out fine, whew! I liked the ointment because it kept the scars soft and kept them from itching. I little dab did me. (isn't that a song?)

I was told not to use Neosporin at all because it keeps the wound from granulating properly. The nurse recommended Preporation H of all things. yes, I am serious. I asked if she was kidding and she said to think of what it does to a hemmoroid. But she did say to make sure you weren't open anywhere you were applying it. My mother in law is a nurse and she said to go to discount stores (Family Dollar, Dollar General etc.) or Walmart and get Vitamin E capsules and pulled them apart and put a thin coat on the scars after they are closed. It is usually cheaper this way than buying the oil in a bottle. I myself have been using Jergen's Vitamin E lotion. My skin tends to get really dry so I had it anyway and I put it on my scars while I am at it. They seem to be getting lighter in color all the time. So, those are my suggestions. Hopefully that will help some.

You might try some Vit. C cream. I have some I use on my face, and my scar right under my bra was itching so bad, that i used the c cream. It has healed over so well i have been putting it on the other three.

I work for a dermatologist. You can use Neosporin if you feel you need to. If you cannot use Neosporin there is some great stuff out there called Aquaphor. It is the consistency of Vaseline but heals well. Also good to have this on hand (like I do) for paper cuts and minor burns. We swear by the stuff at my office. I, however, put nothing on my incision site and really don't even use any Mederma. Ok, I used the kid's Mederma twice cause it smelled like grapes and is purple going on....I wanted to play!!! But really, I have really dry skin naturally and have discovered something called Kiss My Face. It is a bar of soap sold at places like Whole Foods. It is a bar of soap made out of Olive Oil. I don't use it on my face but it does add alot of moisture at the end of my shower. Runs about $2 a bar

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
