I'm doing everything right, small bites, chew chew chew, no straws, blah blah blah, but after I eat I burp constantly for at least an hour. Thankfully it's small quiet urps but good grief it's driving me crazy! Gas X doesn't do much for me, is there anything else I can do to help it?

I'm burping a lot on liquids. After I drink sometimes I will have 5-10 little bitty burps. Often they are almost silent. Just releasing the air.

I'm just happy I'm not farting up a storm like my poor friend who had gastric bypass. You have to flee the house when she passes gas and it's frequent!

I'm not burping with liquids and I pray I don't with food. This is very distressing to me!

Mine are more like a hick up. My family calls them the meeps.

Also, I get kind of a squeak when I'm at my stopping point. It's audible enough that my daughter will look at me and tell me I'm done.

Anyone else get that?

Kat

It must be a band thing. I burp all the time now, I can't help it. When I eat, I always burp afterwards. I try not to get in air, but I must, because it is bad sometimes. Drinking doesn't seem to do it like the food!

The first two months after my lap band I was burping loudly all the time. Most of them were completely random. Inbetween meals, and with no coraspondence with drinking.

I work in the customer service field, and I was on the phone with a customer and all of a sudden a large loud belch came out with out warning. I was so embarrassed! Luckly enough the guy starting laughing, and told me that I could win a burping contest. AAfter apologizing we went back to the origional conversation.

It was really annoying, but just past the two month mark the belching has calmed down. My Dr. did tell me that some people are gassier than others. I was afraid that I was doing something wrong, or that I was going to make my band slip, but she reasured me that I was one of the special ones.

I make a strange little noise. It's somewhere between a burp and a hiccup, but it is neither!!! I just say "Ooops, excuse me..my band is talking" At least you don't have the gurgle in your throat, that is even worse :).

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
