DesertRose 0 Posted August 30, 2008 My doctor has me stand up while he does my fills. He's never missed and it takes 2 minutes to complete the procedure. He says this helps with equilibrium and with complications after? Has anyone else heard of this? I know it sounds like a silly question, but I'm wondering if it makes a difference as far as restriction, etc.

Hollie519 1 Posted August 30, 2008 i have never heard of this. My doctor used to have us lay down but now that he has us do the x-rays while getting a fill, we stand. I think it's easier for them to get to the port when you are standing up.
Carrie_C 9 Posted August 30, 2008 My doctor has me start out by lying down. Then he accesses the port. After he has the needle in, I have to stand up in front of the flouro machine. Then I drink the barium and he looks at the picture to make sure everything is ok. Then he does the fill while I am still standing. It feels really weird to get up and stand with a needle in your stomach!
fujika 0 Posted August 30, 2008 My doctors office uses a chair, first they lay you down, then they sit you up. They use flouro everytime and the barium, it seems to work pretty well. I haven't had a fill that wasn't enough or too much. I'm losing and not uncomfortable!

2GoodDogs 6 Posted August 30, 2008 Now I want a standing fill in front of a fluroscopy! My first fill was laying down. Can't wait for the 2nd fill, but it is not scheduled for a little more than 3 weeks from now.
Carrie_C 9 Posted August 31, 2008 "Now I want a standing fill in front of a fluroscopy!" It's really neat because you get to actually see your band and watch the barum go through.
