Hey Everyone!

I just had my surgery on the 8th! Yippee!!!:scared2: I'm still sore. Partly at the port site. But also feeling chokey and tightness in chest. I think it's because of the hernia repair. The Dr. said it was bigger then he thought. I have been doing my breathing exercises and took two walks today.

I haven't been very hungry and it's all I can do to get liquids in.

Take care and good luck to evryone!!!!!

I had my surgery yesterday morning. I spent the night at the hospital since I lived 2 hours from the hospital. I am still pretty tired and have been taking my loritab elixor every 4 hours to aoid being in pain all together. Even with the meds I am sore at the port and incission sites.

I have not had hardly any gas pains... but have had the hickups a few times... ouch! I will check back in later.

Congrats to all.

My best advise to anyone not yet banded is to stay on the pre-op diet excactly as advised by the Dr. It's only going to help him take care of what he has to do and in the long run will help you too. My doctor wanted me to lose 35 lbs prior to starting the liquid diet. I ended up losing 20. He checked me and because of the way I carry my weight "legs, hips and a$$ that he could still do it but told me to follow the preop exact. So that's what I did. Exactly. I either overcooked or undercooked some of the dinners in those 10 days but they were ok with it. I didn't even have a taste of anything. The result is that the Doc told me my liver was tiny tiny and I made it so much better for him and myself. Oh almost forgot to mention that 17 lbs were lost during the 10 day liquid diet. The first 2 days were horrible, I was so hungry but got used to it.

Thanks for reading

Hi Everybody!!! Well... I'm in Houston. I had my pre-op appt. today and got to meet my doctor for the first time - I LOVE HIM (thank goodness). He is the perfect doctor for me. Mom and I are having fun, BUT... now there is a tiny problem... Hurricane Ike is coming to Houston too. I am from the desert in New Mexico and needless to say I have NO hurricane experience. My surgery is scheduled for Friday morning and Ike is supposed to hit late Friday or early Saturday - YIKES!! I worried about my liver being too fatty, I worried about not losing enough weght on the pre-op diet, but I didn't worry about a hurricane. Of course I am worried about the things people worry about when a disaster is headed your way - the people, their homes, and our safety..... but... I want my band. They can proceed with the surgery if it's VERY windy or if it is raining HARD... but I think if power goes out.... I am keeping my positive attitude and just want you all to send "power on" thoughts this way. I am so excited to see all of my September friends being banded... keep smiling those that have your band, good luck to those getting ready to get your band, and thank you all for your support and encouragement. I LOVE THIS SITE!!! Becky

so good to hear from everyone...i agree about sticking to the pre-op diet...not only does it shrink your liver, but it does prepare you for the band...after a couple of days the hunger was gone...now if i was cooking supper for everyone, i got a little tempted to pick...so what i would do is get a can of chicken broth...squeeze some lemon and lime in it(i did not have the suggested crushed red pepper) sip on that and it helped...the weight loss is an extra added bonus, because usually your not geting enough calories to lose a lot...i did lose down to 240...very happy with that...good luck and you are in my prayers, all of you...

not trying to be a board hog but i have a story to share....

do yall remember my rant on page 2 of this thread about the redneck:angry_smile: moment i was feeling with the radiologist on september 3rd? well, they rescheduled my chest x-ray for yesterday. i had a meeting to go to at the hospital i work at first. so i called the lab and asked them to do a pregnancy test so i could give that mean old radiology lady a definite NO, I AM NOT PREGNANT:thumbdown:...well, i peed in the cup, she set the timer for 3 minutes, after about 1 1/2 min. i said well can i tell her a definite no, so i won't have a 4 legged baby...? lab tech says yep u can tell her nope...so as i was walking down the hall i heard someone yell my name, i went back to the lab...and if u could have seen her, hilarious...she had this huge magnifying glass with a really bright light shining on my pregnancy test, and said i think it's +...i started laughing, cause i really couldn't barely see it...so she made me draw blood...it was +, so they did a quantitative to c what my hcg level is...was 39...very early pregnancy...the test from the 3rd that they done was negative, we looked it up...so i am in a state of shock really, because we have tried fertility treatments, and i thought the band would help me get pregnant...but i am trying not to be terrified, because we lost one in 2001 and have been trying ever since...a little cramping, no spotting...go to ob friday, for another lab to make sure my hcg level is going up...my last one didn't...nervous, happy, scared, excited...so needless to say i am not at hospital right now for my surgery...my husband was the last one to find out because everyone knew before i left the hospital...when perry came home...i was grinning ear to ear, so he knew something was up...so i said...i'm not having surgery in the morning....he was like why not? and i said...i think i am just gonna lay around here and get fat for about 9 months 1st...omg...he is so happy....he called everone telling them he was gonna be a daddy...please please pray for me....i have 2 years good on my 6 month pre-op adventure, so i will still be banded...and i will be a september samurai at heart no matter when i get banded...and i will still be checking in on you ladies....ty for all the support...nay

Saw my PCP & officially started my 6 month supervised diet 07/26/24. She just told me to eat less carbs & sugar, use the air fryer and not fry my foods in grease, and to try to walk 30 minutes 3 days a week & if I can't do that (and I cannot), to walk 10 minutes daily. Told me to walk fast enough that my heart rate is raised.  She didn't give me a number as far as calories though. A year or so ago I was doing low carb/sugar free and keeping my calories at 1800 or below. She said I should up my cals to 2000 at that time, so that's what I'm shooting for now.
Hubby walked with me today. He's in pretty bad shape so I was surprised he wanted to. We walked down the gravel road at a pretty good pace (for us LOL). 10 minutes walking and my heart rate was 115bps according to my Fitbit and 125bps according to his pulsometer. Either way, it was elevated and I was breathing hard. Doesn't sound like a lot, but it's a start. We'll do it again tomorrow. 😁
I should be hearing from the surgeon soon. She said if I didn't, to call him next week. Since I HAVE to do the 6 month diet & that's going to put me into January by the time it's done, I'm hoping the surgeon will let me do all my testing in January. I don't want to do it all now and have my deductible get met, only to have to pay the deductible again in January or February for my surgery. Praying that things go the way I hope. 🙏

Factors Affecting the Growth of the Alternative Sweeteners Industry:
Health Consciousness: The increasing awareness among individuals about the health issues linked to high sugar consumption, such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases, is supporting the market growth. Consumers are becoming more health-conscious and seeking products that can provide sweetness without the negative health effects associated with sugar. This shift in consumer preferences is leading to a greater demand for low-calorie and natural sweeteners like stevia, monk fruit, and erythritol. These sweeteners offer the added benefit of having minimal impact on blood glucose levels, making them suitable for diabetic and health-conscious individuals.
Technological Advancements: Innovations in the production and formulation of alternative sweeteners are impelling the market growth. Advancements in biotechnology and food science are leading to the development of high-intensity sweeteners with improved taste profiles and functional properties. Innovations in fermentation processes enhance the production efficiency and quality of natural sweeteners like stevia and monk fruit. These technological improvements are making alternative sweeteners more appealing to both manufacturers and consumers. Enhanced stability, solubility, and sweetness intensity allow these sweeteners to be used in a wide range of products, ranging from beverages to baked goods.
Consumer Trends and Preferences: Evolving consumer trends and preferences are playing a significant role in driving the alternative sweeteners market. The growing demand for clean-label products, which are healthier and free from artificial ingredients, is offering a favorable market outlook. Consumers are increasingly seeking natural and plant-based sweeteners, aligning with broader trends toward plant-based diets and veganism. Besides this, there is an increase in the demand for low-calorie and sugar-free alternatives that support weight management and overall wellness. Food and beverage companies are responding to these trends by innovating and expanding their product lines to include options sweetened with alternative sweeteners, thereby catering to changing tastes and health concerns of modern consumers.
