I never get sick so I really don't have a primary doctor. Just switched ob/gyn so thats a no good thing too... But I have all my records for the last 10 years showing that I have been over the 200lb mark..... Just at a loss and discouraged!

I'm sorry you are having such a hard time! I know how frustrating the whole insurance thing is... I had to "wrestle" my way into getting my insurance to pay.... First off, Get in with a PCP, preferably one that is Lapband "friendly" tell them the situation and your goals. At this point I would just start from scratch. I'm sure your insurance company has the standard dieting for six months thing... Just start it. Insurance companies will try anything to avoid paying for your surgery. It is really ridiculus! Call and talk to the insurance company's case manager/nurse and ask for ALL the specifics on what you will need to have the authorization coverage. Then do everything they ask. Mark each one off, follow it to a "T". The insurace companies are taking the chance that you will get so overwhelmed with all they require that you will give up, BUT Don't!! Just keep going! I started my "journey" last October and I am approved now with my insurance and will be having sugery next week. Just hang in there and be patient! It is so hard to do, when you know this is what you need and want. Good Luck and DON't GIVE UP!!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
