Oh hey sweetie don't ever say you are wasting time. That's what we are all here for :] To me it sounds like you need a fill. You should be able to eat about 3-4 ounces. Take a one ounce shot glass and compare it while you are eating. If you are hungry before like 4 hours, than you need a fill. Are you drinking with your meals? My doctor told me to not drink anything a half an hour before and after eating. Try that if you haven't already and if you are still getting hungry, that call your doctor for a fill. Make sure you are eating solid food as well. The more liquidy the texture, the faster it will go down.

Hope that helps! Good luck!

parul,

I just read through the rest of your posts to get an idea of where you're coming from. If you can't eat more than 4 tsp of solid food, and eating solid foods hurt, then you absolutely shouldn't get a fill. In fact, you should talk to your surgeon about a possible unfill. You should be able to eat solid food, and also much more than a few spoonfuls. The band isn't meant to be forced starvation.

You need to be careful with that. I was getting sick too much beacuse I was too tight and my stomch became swollen shut. It is no joke.

Parul....you can also plateau because you are not eating enough. Your body thinks "Whoa! Times are pretty lean" and your metabolism slows, and so does your weight loss. I don't know what you weigh but if you are "obese" you need 1000-1200 cals a day. Try upping your caloric intake for a few days. If you need an unfill, get one!

And as for GERD...I don't know if it can damage your band but it definitely can damage your esophagus. Tell your doctor you have it...

there are pills that can treat it.

Good luck! Poor starving thing!

I'm so glad I read these because i am really not eating nearly enough as I should be than. I need to lose 10 pounds in 5 weeks. I'll have to pay attention to that.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
