Palin! Palin! Palin! I was soooo excited to see McCain pick her. And the fact that her son is going to Iraq on Sept 11th! I am impressed!

Meh! I'm ready for a woman VP. But not THIS woman VP. I disagree with so many of her beliefs I couldn't support her.

Me too. It's interesting because I'm somewhat impressed that McCain didn't go with a old white dude, but many of her positions have pushed me over to the "will never vote for this ticket" camp.

I think the responses to this thread just prove the point that it doesn't matter the race or gender of the candidate. What matters is how the candidate's views align with your own.

Absolutely! Or rather, that is how it should be. I believe that too many individuals vote for a candidate for the 'wrong' (IMO) reason - race, or gender, or party.

And although with the minimal information I know of this woman, many of her beliefs are opposite to mine.

I voted yes, though I say that I don't know if this woman is the one or not.

I won't get party lines going here, since I have voted democrat on occasion, and I have voted republican on occasion.

I will say that the vice presidential race is going to make this a much more interesting election.

I have never based my decisions on race or gender. I am a very open minded person but I fear many in this country are not.

I know a lot of people who have voted in the past strictly on party not issues and I have always felt that was wrong. I am afraid the same will hold here, vote because of race or gender.

I don't care if the president < or vp> is a man or woman, black white or green as long as the person voted in does what is best for this country!

Ya'll are right, the race is on and either way it will make history!

I would have been happy with a number of candidates McCain might have chosen (and unhappy with some of them as well, unhappy enough to withhold my vote). But with this choice, I'm thrilled.

I heard an interview with her when she was governor and pregnant. When asked if she could handle it, she answered something along the lines of, "Yes, women can work, think, and carry a baby all at the same time." LOVE IT!

I don't like her beliefs and she has no experience in foreign issues and policies, either. She, too, has little experience. Would you want her as your President if the old man croaks while still in office?

I like it that, regardless of who wins as president, this election WILL make history! How cool is that?

It is cool that the election will make history!

BUT... What about after the election? It is scary to me. I never thought I would see the country in the shape it is in today and have to fear for what the future of this Country holds for my children. There has to be changes made or we are all in trouble! To me, a woman vice president, an afro-american president, a green president or vice president doesn't matter.

We need someone who help our future on so many issues!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
