Hurricane Gustav, that Mutha Fugga

Recommended Posts

Ya'll please keep my city, New Orleans, in your prayers. I am not sure if we can handle another blow. This is ridiculous, seriously. I was watching the news last night and it showed a lady who had just moved back into her home since Hurricane Katrina, and now she is preparing to evacuate due to that F:cursing: Gustav. Well I will be evacuating with my job, The American Red Cross. Please pray for us that this blows over and misses us. Thanks ya'll!!!!!

I fell in love with New Orleans last year. My daughter had done some volunteer work right after Katrina, and we decided to go and tour the city last summer. We were saddened that there are many places that are still affected by Katrina. The Big Easy will be in our prayers!

Hey guys! just wanted to udate ya'll. I have evacuated to a city outside of New Orleans. I am in a shelter with my job. Well the mood here is well ummm, there is not much mood here. I am with a lot of volunteers from across the country and they are so stoked to be here, I don't understand why. Honestly I am here because I need my job. I hated the fact that I had to send my 5 year old daughter to my sister's in Dallas, Tx. I really wanted to get the He** out of Louisiana. But I am stuck in between a rock and a hard place. Stay here and ride out the storm or evacuate to Tx and loose my job. :):cursing::rolleyes::cursing: This is not an easy task , but I gotta do what I gotta do. TTYL.

Hey, just wanted to give ya'll an update. Well the worst is over. We were spared. We lost power in the shelter on Monday, and we lived in the heat until yesterday. I just want to thank ya'll for all your prayers and support. I am so glad that it is over. Praise God.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
