travelinsnorkel 0 Posted August 29, 2008 So, I was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes about a year ago which I have just recently needed to treat with meds. I am taking Glucophage now. How many of you are completely off meds? Or have had them reduced? I have been really worried about my glucose levels recently and I am looking forward to changing that! lynners 0 Posted August 29, 2008 I was taking glucophage before I had surgery on 8/28/06. I have not had to take them since. My last a1c was 5.1. My diabetes is pretty much a non-issue. I still check my glucose levels once or twice a week, and my doctor checks my a1c every 6 months but I haven't taken a glucophage since the day of my surgery. Michee 2 Posted August 30, 2008 Yep, I am another statistic When I was banded a year ago I was taking metformin for type 2 diabetes and lipitor for cholesterol. Happy to report that I am no longer considered diabetic, and my cholesterol is waaayy down. I have been off all meds since April.
travelinsnorkel 0 Posted August 30, 2008 I'm on the diabetes meds plus lipitor plus blood pressure meds plus etc....I don't want to be dependent on these meds!
KathrynH 0 Posted August 30, 2008 I was banded 7-28 (1 month ago). Last week I had my labs done and my A1C went UP from 6.5 to 6.8. My cholestrol was a mess, too, since 6 months ago. Terrible lab results! Doctor says he has never seen anyone loose 17 lbs and lab results get worse!!! We'll worry about it at the next 6 month check up and blame it on the surgery for now.
