Milk diet anyone?

Recommended Posts

I have to be on this milk diet for 3 weeks. I want to know has anyone else needed to be on this diet as well?

Im worried I will fall off the wagon because a week into this diet, I am going to my high school reunion, and with the food, the alcohol, and the party scene, well, I think anyone would be worried...

Any suggestions, or advice for me?

Elaine

What is the milk diet? I've never heard of it before. What does it entail?

It looks to me like this must be your pre-op diet. That's a bummer that the reunion coincides with the pre-op stuff. I'd check with your surgeon and see if he'll give you the all-clear to have that one day off. If not, then I would stick with what he's told you. If you can't handle being there and not straying from you pre-op diet, then I wouldn't go, if I were you.

But then again, I hated my last high school reunion. Hated it. I was fat and unhappy. None of my friends were there. We left early.

Good luck!

I have heard of the milk diet but I never heard of a doctor prescribing it. I can't help but wonder if you will lose all desire for milk after spending three weeks on nothing but milk. :0)

I would talk to your doctor as well about having a night off. Perhaps you can start a couple of days early to offset it.

I would like to know more about the milk diet too. I love milk but I don't drink alot of it since I try to only have Water.

The best advice is always to follow your doctors rules but I myself would probably have fun for the 1 night. But I guess I am not the best rule following bandster hehe

The milk diet goes as follows.. I am suppose to drink SKIM MILK 3 times a day, as much as I want, in 5 minutes. Then I can drink Water and crystal light throughout the day.

So, Im a little anxious about doing it, but I cant even eat vegetables either. They want me on a VERY LOW CALORIE DIET. They want me to lose a bunch of weight before the surgery, and to shrink my liver as well. Im just nervous about the reunion thats all with, with everyone drinking and eating.. it could be hell.. lol

Alcohol isn't going to be good for shrinking your liver, so don't do that!

Never heard of a milk diet though, I'd imagine a lot of poo'ing is involved!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
