Hello all. Well, I've been banded since April 22, and lost 55 lbs! I have a 14cc band and have had 2 fills. The first fill he gave me 7cc and I couldn't swallow so he removed 1cc, second fill 3cc, but again couldn't swallow, so 1cc out. I feel I can eat more than a cup of food at a time. I have no pain, no throwing up. Am I eating to much??? How do you know when you've over done it?? I feel I'm not limited enough. Maybe I haven't reached my "sweet spot". Can some of us eat more than others?? :confused2:

Well, I've been too tight and I've been too loose. Right now I'm almost at my sweet spot...thinking of going in for another teeny tiny fill of 0.1cc.

I'm happy when I can eat fresh veggies and fruits as well as a variety of Protein, including eggs and chicken, which are all impossible when I'm too tight.

If I'm too loose, I can eat 'too much' in one sitting....which is right now like 2+ cups of food.

Does that help you?

How long do you stay satisfied? for me its 4 to 5 hours. Also how many calories are you getting in for the day?

I stay satisfy for a good 4 hours plus on about 1 cup of food with about 1000 to 1200 calories a day. Hope that answers your questions.

Congrats on the 55lb loss!! I was banded April 17th and I also have a 14cc band. I just got my 3rd fill yesterday. I only have 6.5cc. I don't know how to tell you if you've reached your 'sweet spot' as I'm not at mine yet! However the book he gave me yesterday said if you're losing a pound or so a week, and not hungry between meals then you're at the right spot. I've only lost a few pounds since surgery, so I know I need more work yet!! Maybe this last fill will help.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
