mom2mygirlz920 0 Posted June 11, 2005 I am almost 2 weeks post. I am on purees. When they say puree, does it have to be liquid? Can i chop Boars head turkey and have that? They said i can have chicken salad, egg salad and chili, so i am not sure about the bh turkey!
vinesqueen 2 Posted June 11, 2005 I don't know what boars head turkey is, but if you can have chicken salad, then turkey should be a-ok.
angiebell 0 Posted June 12, 2005 The doc told me thar puree means you can chew food into a liquid form. You should not have a problem with the turkey if you chew it really, really well.
La_madam 20 Posted June 12, 2005 I thought puree's were anything that went through a food processor sort of the texture of pudding or applesauce, like mushy foods, baby foods In my opinion I do no think boars head turkey is a pureed food unless you put it in the blender or food processor.. I could be wrong.
angiebell 0 Posted June 12, 2005 Nope...I asked my doc and he said as long as you puree in your mouth, you can eat it. I haven't had any problems with lunch meat at all.
ArizonaBandit 0 Posted June 12, 2005 Yes, BH is a perfect choice, don't do the "pressed" cheap variety!!! Love their turkey!
DeLarla 22 Posted June 12, 2005 Soups, mashed potatos, yogurt, cottage cheese. Don't introduce solids until your doc says it's okay. Any kind of meat, including deli, is considered a solid food. If you chew steak enough it will turn to mush, but that doesn't mean we should eat it. Every time you introduce food into your pouch, the stomach starts moving & wiggling to begin the digestive process. Mushies slide right through the pouch, where solids need more work. Why take chances swallowing bits & pieces that aren't pureed? I'd put the turkey in a food processor first to make pate'. Follow the rules, that's why they're written. Persimmon 0 Posted June 12, 2005 Really if you're on purees, the only way you can have egg salad or tuna salad is to mix up the salad, then put it through the food processor until it's the consistency of a spread. You could do the same thing with the deli turkey...chop it up, make a salad from it and put it through the food process. Puree means somewhat runny, absolutely no chunks or lumps...but thicker than liquids that could go up a straw... Nancy
