HI I was just banded on June 3 & felt the same way- It turned out that the medicine I was on for pain was making me very nauseas. I called my Doctor & he said to switch to liquid tylenol. It took a couple days but I beagn feeling less seasick. I still get slightly dizzy. Make sure your getting at least 65 or more grams of Protein per day. But more than likely its the drugs if your on any.

Hope that helps

Poor girl, your swollen and your still recovering, so don't worry. You will feel better next week. Just keep sipping warm liquids...you maynot be ready for protien and Jello...just try warm broth...once you quit feeling sick, then go to the Protein shakes.

Feel better soon,

I've decided to stay away from the Jello. I was banded 6/2 and when my Dr was talking with me the next morning before discharge, he was pulled out of my room rather suddenly and whisked off. On return- he said that one of the other ladies that had been banded jsut after me had gotten Jello stuck. He said the Lady would be miserable for about 3 hrs until the jello passed..... He said not to eat the jello that can be kept at room temperature, but to get th SF jello that requires refrigeration. It will melt and go down quicker. I've just decided no jello until I'm deep into soft food. (I'm not crazy about jello anyway.)

Take it from me, girls! I had a Jello episode on day 5 after banding. Granted, I was still swollen from surgery, had eaten some V-8 juice and was irritated (too acidic), then I swallowed some of the thick part from the bottom of the bowl. I didn't take the time to swish it and melt it. It was my first PB and it was horrible and scary.

I like the advice others have given about sipping the warm Jello, before it gels. You get good flavor, protien, and it's filling for the new band. At the very least, take care to melt it in your mouth before swallowing. Or avoid it until week 2!

I have had Jello since day one & I just make sure NO MATTER what that I swish it back & forth between my teeth until its liquid. One it goes down great. I also take a bite only every 5 mins or so . And 2 its fun to do! If you extra careful there shouldn't be any problems. VEry small bites- like a dime size & swish swish swish.

In the first two days after surgery I only got nauseated twice, once on a SF popcicle, and Jello. I think there must have been some reaction to the anesthesia still in my system. Consequently I didn't eat those foods again for a week...and I was just fine. May not be the same as what you're feeling...but that was my experience.

Yea it's normal...call your surgeon and see if he can prescribe some anti-nausea suppositories/meds to help. If you're still on prescription pain meds, that might be causing it too. Discuss this all with your surgeon.

Are you feeling nausea with everything and anything you try to get down? Or more directly from Protein shakes? If it's mostly with the shakes, it could be the milk...it's not uncommon for folks to be lactose intolerant after surgery. You can also try sticking to totally clear stuff (there are clear Protein drinks too) if that helps. Don't worry too much the first week or so about getting all your Protein in...best to concentrate on staying hydrated.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
