Just keep swimming literally

Thats my new exercise.

Three time a week I'm swimming in the gyms pool. I'm not a graceful swimmer. And it is an olympic sized pool and I haven't figured out how to take a quick, effortless breathe and with a quick resubmergence in the woman. So I do laps looking like a drowning dog...but I don't care. It's fun, it makes me proud, and I can feel it when I am doing it. When my heart is beating too fast to swim then I grab those Water weights and fight to keep them under as I walk up and down the pool. I keep myself interested by playing this game with myself. See the lanes are marked and in the center of the lane there is a 8 in black stripe (I guess so that when your swimming you have a line to follow. I walk up and down the pool holding down the weights, which is harder than it sounds, and I also work my legs by fitting the waves of the other swimmers to keep my feet in the black line.

I have really enjoyed it.

That's awesome!

Do you feel like your weight loss has increased since you've started in the pool? I've always felt like I didn't get a "workout" unless I got sweaty!

Keep it up...

I'm sorry but...LOL...were you thinking of something else when you were writing? I about died laughing at that typo. ;)

Swimming sounds like so much fun. I really wish we had a pool here cause I'd be swimming every day.

Good for you Ready! On both exercises.

Hey RSG - I too have taken up swimming about 3 months ago. I can't say I love it, but it is less repugnant than other forms of exercise! My committment to myself is to exercise 4 times a week, and swimming is something I do with less drama and delaying tactics on at least 2 of those days.

My duration varies - some days I can do significantly more laps than others, but I make myself swim until I can't anymore.

Maybe the VV's need an exercise thread....

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
