They told me to take zinc for hair loss-I am away from my home right now, so I don't have the bottle with me-but I believe 60mg is what they told me to take.

Good luck.,

I have the same problem...and i have thin hair. I have notice that it is starting to slack off. And I cut my hair to above my shoulders. I noticed that when I get a fill I lose hair. It might have to do with the stress.

Darn! I was hoping you'd say no so that I could reassure myself that it won't happen to me since I'm taking a Multi-Vitamin, extra Calcium and getting 60-80 grams of Protein a day. Where do you get your Biotin? Maybe I should start that now.

Our doc, in our seminar, said everyone will lose their hair 3-6 months post op. He said supplements don't seem to help, it all grows back, and not one of his over 1000 patients have needed a wig. So he said just brace for it and get through it.

Can someone tell us what is Biotin. Do you get it at GNC or where? I want to do what I can to keep what I have.

Thanks guys,

I was banded almost two months ago and I have lost an awful lot of hair. I tried the comb over for as long as I could. I broke down and got the wig today as I couldn't bear to see my scalp a couple inches back any more when I looked in the rear view mirror. With the weight loss and the change in hair, people are slow to recognize me. Anybody know how soon the hair starts coming back? I'll be anxious to see those new buds of hair as I have way too much scalp. I don't regret getting the band, but didn't expect this.

I started loosing my hair after three months. I got nioxin Shampoo and conditioner. I don't know if it helped or if my hair just stoped falling out on it's own. Hang in there and talk to your dietician.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
