Going to six flags...Question

Recommended Posts

Physically you should be fine I think, but you might tire out a little easier than usual with the walking around part. Your incisions should be well healed at that point.

You will definitely need to take some food with you that fits the post-op diet for the stage you are on. Just a word of caution, last time I went to six flags, I packed a lunch and they confiscated any liquid beverages other than Water.

I was pretty annoyed with this because the only reason I could think of for this behavios is that people are thirsty walking in the sun all day and at $3-$5 a drink they must be making a lot of money on top of the $$$ for the tickets. However, I found that they will give you water for free.

I would suggest checking the website or giving them a call to make sure that you can bring something in the park. You may be able to find Soup in a cafe but most food I have seen there is by no means post-op band friendly if you are still in your liquids-to-mushies stages.

LOL...I'm happy that you wrote this post. I went to Six Flags about a month ago (about 8 MONTHS post op) and remember thinking, as I was enduring free-falls and Loop-D-Loops "I hope my band is okay." I meant to read up on it, but then totally forgot. I've been doing just fine since, so I guess it's all good!

Have fun!

As a matter of fact I just went to Great America last weekend with my kids and I was 3 1/2 weeks post op I felt ok going on some of the rides, just take some tylenol just in case, I also stoped at guest realotions on my way out and asked them about brining food into the park because of dietery puropses, they said it was fine in a small cooler you have to go to the guest service window and they look at it to make sure it is stuff they do not sell in the park, then they will let you have it.. that is the six flags in IL.

I went to Outer Banks 11 days after Lap Band. I even drove 9 hours to get there.

I was a little tried, but got to rest all week.

food wise is a challenge.

I drank lots of Propel and stopped at Taco Bell's for Pintos and cheese.< /p>

At Subway I was able to order the 6" tuna sub and just didn't eat the bun.

Pasta seems fine too. I just ate 1/4 cups and chewed very well.

Most theme parks have really good food and you can pick something.

Get bottled Water. I took the single serving Propel powder in my purse and drank tons of it.

I mean, you are going to be walking miles in the park, eat ice cream!! Your not going to gain weight with all that exercise and it's only a day or two.

Not the greatest choice, but sugar and Protein will keep up your energy levels.

Take time a sit and people watch when you are tired.

I'll be three weeks post-op tomorrow and I'm down 16 pounds since the week prior to surgery!!!

I only lost 1 pound the week of vacation but I was more concerned I getting my energy levels back to what they were before the liquid diets before surgery.

I'm pretty much back to normal now and watching everything I eat.

:biggrin2:

Wow, that sounds awesome!! I wish Pittsburgh had something as cool as that!!

I would have done that on my 11th day post-sugery and would have been totally ready for it!!

I cannot wait...My work gave me free passes and I have to use them by the end of the season and monday is the last day that the Water park is open and it is going to be 80 out! I am sooo excited...last time i went to an amusement park was in 1999!

You might want to think about skipping coasters that have a lap bar, sometimes they have sudden stops and that bar hits you pretty hard, not hard enough to hurt normally but it might be too much this soon after your surgery. I'd think you'd be fine with the over the shoulder restraints though.

I'd really be careful, I tore scar tissue in my tummy near my port, turning over in bed at 3 weeks post-op.

Ditto. I think the only thing you need to be cautious of is the roller coasters at that stage. You'll still be healing inside. As for the walking, that will be GOOD for you. Especially if you still have issues with gas. Just be careful not to eat things you shouldn't. I would hate for you to get stuck at the park. You may have to get a little creative with the food available there.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
