What will you do with your hands

Recommended Posts

post op. Seriously If I don't have food in my hands, I used to go crazy. So I'm now Knitting up a storm. Anyone want a scarf? LMAO. I've always been a crafter, but I need to keep my hands really busy now. That and I've been cleaning up a storm since I started this journey. Spring cleaning in August... works for me.

I'm also a knitter!

I have two projects currently on the needles. A recycled sari silk wrap for myself, which is a tedious lace pattern......and a new fall sweater for my 4yo.

I also have a new library book!

I'm waiting until i get closer to my date, to go get some library books. I love to read but have trouble concentrating on it with my twins running around.

Teri...I am not part of your Sept. group but wanted to respond to this. I was banded June 17, 2008. I lined up many things pre-op so my hands would stay busy. I have always done the New York Times crossword and the LA Times crosswords daily. (I just don't have a bowl of cheetos or popcorn sitting beside me now). I picked up crewel work and cross stitch again. I have always loved to read and I make sure that I get at least two hours of reading in a day.

This may sound funny but I bake a lot also. I have always loved to bake and cook and I truly believe that I do more now since my surgery. I can honestly say that I am not tempted by things I make. We farm and I have to cook for many every day and I think I enjoy it now more than ever. Go figure. My way of thinking about food has totally changed. I am only into the foods that I know I can have.

Want to wish you the best of luck with your surgery and recovery. Same to all the rest of you people that have a September date. It's the best thing I have ever done for myself. My outlook on life is so different than it was a year ago. I am truly happy.:w00t:

i have been trying to figure out something for me to do....i can't sew, knit, or do any crafty stuff:blushing:...i thought about making candles to sell to people i work with...someone told me it was time consuming and that is what i need....i kept hoping instead of food addiction i would develop exercise addiction....what do ya think my chances are for that to happen??:cursing:

I've taken up drawing and painting in the last 5 years, so I plan on my sketch book never being to far away. If I need to keep my hands busy, I'll sketch. I think the trick is not draw food....lolol.

I write and do art, but I recently added crocheting to my outlets. I tried the knitting thing and I just can't get the hang of it!!!!

I have become a comper and enter lots of competitions, either on the net or composing 25 words or less ditties. This has become very profitable for me also as I have won trips, appliances and lots of others odds and ends. What I can't use I donate to charity. It keeps me so busy that I just dont have time for thinking about food. In fact sometimes I forget to eat. So far this year I have earned $6000.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.

Lost my Pup last month and struggled really hard for that first month. Stopped tracking intake and slid into old habits here and there. Also quit working out. Can't walk in the neighborhood because of all of the memories we shared. Losing my Pup is the most heartbreaking thing I've ever been through. My Pup was my world 💔
Talked to my doc during my one year followup and they were not worried about my current status. They know, and I know, that I will get back on track.

I'm so sorry. I lost my pup (Mr. Bitters - a chocolate Pomeranian) 2 years ago and it still makes me tear up. He was my everything - my constant companion. I understand. Do the best you can to get back on track.
