Hello out there,

my name is Karen Leyba and I haven't written in awhile because I forgot my password.

I was finally banded March 17, 2008! i felt really bad after the surgery, but it was because I was given Demoral for pain. As soon as I was given Lortab, I was better and ready to go home. It was instantanious.

I have lost 40lbs. and I feel great!!! The first 20 lbs. and my joint pain is gone. My back pain will never leave me completely because I have a ruptured disc and a bulging disc.

In June my husband and I went to Europe and it was amazing! I did really well with my band. So far I have had 3 fills. And the last one had to be done with the x-ray because although I have lost 40lbs. I am still too fat in the tummy area, and it is difficult for the doc to gibe me a fill.

I swear my stomach must be as big as a football! Because I still eat alot.

I can't imagine how big the rest of it is. I am eating very well, healthy and yes somtimes I cheat.

I choose Russell Stover's Sugar Free Chocolate and Skinny Cow icecream.

I don't over indulge. I take my Vitamins and try to follow my diet as much as possible. It is still a never ending battle becuse like my doctor told me," I can fix the stomach, but only you can fix the way you eat". So I wish you all the best and I hope you have a doctor that is as loving and caring as mine is.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
