MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH 0 Posted August 26, 2008 I have my first apt with my dr this Friday and I am super excited! However, I am a little worried, I dont really have any co morbs, maybe sleep apena I am not sure I do have joint pain but nothing medically noted. I was thinking of saying I had a family history of diabetes from my mother (she passed away a few years back) I wondered if they check the history on your parents or what. I am desperate to have this done so desperate !! I def meet the weight but not sure about the co morbids my insurance requires:confused: Hey Stephanie, if it makes u feel any better, I didn't have any co morbs either. Other than my weight and arthritis in my back, I am in perfect health.

MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH 0 Posted August 26, 2008 I wouldn't go as far as lying to them. If ur insurance found out that you had lied, you may end up having to repay them or worse yet, end up repaying them and beign sued having to pay court costs and whatever else. You know what I am saying? Your doctor will be able to tell you if you qualify with the insurance or not to pay

horseygirl 0 Posted August 26, 2008 Stephanie Tell your doctor that you may have sleep apnea and he will probably schedule you for a sleep test. I had to come up with a co morb. for my insurance also. I didn't hink that I had sleep apnea and it turns out that I did. I don't even snore but there are other factors that will play into your diagnosis. Just let them know and I am sure they will work with you to get you approved. hfalola 0 Posted August 27, 2008 What is your BMI? Typically, if you have a BMI of 40 or below, they will require 1-2 co-morbidities. If it is over 40, they do not require any. Check with your insurance customer serivce, they should be able to tell you if there is a cut-off point where they don't need them.
Laurinda 1 Posted August 27, 2008 I didn't have any co morbs. My sleep apnea was discovered after I had a surgery date. Good-Luck to you!
pstroud100 1 Posted August 27, 2008 I had a sleep study done before submitting to my insurance. I was dx with sleep apnea even though I dont stop breathing. I breath so shallow in my REM sleep that I only get 60% of the oxygen I need. Have the sleep study done. It will help to get you approval. I didnt have any comorbidities untill I was dx with sleep apnea. Good luck on your journey!

If its documented in any of your medical records, you could be able to use that. Good luck with your insurance!
