Ok... so my surgery is this thursday 8/28, i enjoy working out and have already lost 9lbs on my pre-op diet... So my question is... i starting at 247lbs and now at 238, is it an unrealistic goal to want to be under or at 200lbs by christmas?

I started out about the same weight as you did. I did reset my scales because they were reading high, but Iv been down as low as 208.5, back up to 210, got heat rash walking outside and cruising next week. I certainly expect to be below 200 way before Christmas even with regaining 5 lbs next week on the cruise. I fully expect to be there before Thanksgiving, even with taking all this week off and not losing anything (my heat rash got really really bad infected) and next week's set back. Im also betting Im older than you, so its harder to lose.

btw I also lost 9 lbs pre surgery, same as you that Im not counting into my weight loss chart in my signature. Yes, I am sure you can get below 200 before Christmas if you keep exercising.

Very doable I was banded May 7, 2008 to date I have lost 41 pounds and mind you that is with 3 weeks of losing nothing and losing 2 pounds twice before my second fill. So I say go for it. My start weight was 295 and I want to be at 235 by Christmas. That is what I weighed 3 years ago before Chemo and my thyroid went haywire. Current weight 254 so less that 20 pounds to go.

Wow you have had a lot of personal medical issues to overcome. Awesome that you are so determined to take off the weight. WTG

Your post also reminded me that WHEN you get fills and start having enough resistance can be a big factor imo. OP if you can get fills in a more timely manner, I think that will help you lose faster. I know due to circumstances, my 1st fill wasnt near enough and the 2nd fill is mucho delayed. I think getting fills and getting some resistance should help start the weight loss ball moving faster. The first weight comes off kinda easily, then it slows down, thats when you want the lapband to start helping. (imo)

Having fills and getting to the sweet spot faster I think plays a big part in your weight loss.

Great goal! :tt2: I start on mushies this weekend... feeling pretty great except for that port side tightness and a bit of pain (banded for 2 weeks yesterday) but hopefully I can handle walking my dogs on my own soon. They've got 150lbs of tugging power between them so I want to make darn sure I'm healed enough - don't want to get hurt. I sneak out the backdoor and head down the alley without them right now so they don't see me go... they are so spoiled, but I feel guilty leaving them behind! They have me wrapped around their paws alright!

Can't wait to see where we all are by Christmas... 200 or less would be absolutely AMAZING! :smile2:

Good luck everyone!! Thanks for this great incentive!

Hi. I don't think your being unrealistic at all. I haven't weighed myself for a couple of weeks, but I'm sure I've lost a good few pounds more than my ticker says. My goal for Christmas is to lose 56 pounds in total (since my op at the end of June) - I've lost half of it at least. I'd love to got to a Christmas party wearing something nice for a change and not envying the thin girls in their lovely clothes.

At one point I put two pounds on and it shocked me into moving my arse and so I've increased my exercise to about 3-4 times a week. Hopefully if I keep doing this I can lose a bit more.

PS - I've set myself a mini goal. Going on holiday to Spain in 5 weeks time and would love to lose 14lbs (very ambitious) but I still don't feel quite ready to expose my body on the beach looking the way I do just now!!!! :tongue_smilie:GOOD LUCK AND REMEMBER WE'RE ALL IN IT WITH YOU

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
