One Major Question...

Recommended Posts

I hope that I am not offending anyone when asking this, and it is not my intention to do so, but what about intercourse after your surgery. I know that all of the information I have read up on just says not to have intercourse until two weeks after your surgery. But has anyone found pain with the band while having intercourse? I woke up in a panic this morning!:confused2: LOL! I had a horrible dream about this and would appreciate some serious responses as it is beginning to worry me!:tt2::cursing::party::cursing::eek:

My doc told me to hold off for one full week, and then I was free to do whatever I could tolerate comfortwise. I did read from one gal that everything was fine but that she thought it was funny that she could feel her port when it was, shall we say, rubbed? She said it didn't hurt, it was just funny that she noticed it. She said her hubby couldn't feel it.

Well, I would first ask your Doc. You'll get your most accurate response from that.

On a personal note, my doc said "when you feel like it." Granted, I was drugged up the first week and felt like doing nothing but sleeping and watching a few movies. Hubby got his attention later -- and with no complications. As you loose weight, things just get better and better.

My port is in my chest area - so "discomfort" for me may be different than you. I was able to have sex within a week. We just had to take it easy. I ended up having a flipped port (though not from the sex) - so it was uncomfortable at times (if we didn't go slow). Once the port was corrected - no problem whatsoever. Listen to your body and call your doctor to find out his/her opinion. They get all kinds of questions, believe me :-)

Wow everyone was lukcy my Dr. told me six weeks. He said I could do it after 4 if I wanted but said six weeks would be great. It does hurt your ab muscles that is for sure. I wouldn't take any changes of ruining anything so hold off as long as possible. But as your Dr. as well.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
