Really need help- gaining wt and getting depressed and discouraged...

Recommended Posts

Hi- I was banded 6/10/08, and things were really going well. I started at 260 lbs back in 1/2008, and up until about 1 week ago, I was down to 212. This past week I have really screwed up my eating habits, and have gained 3lbs.:) I have had 1 fill, with absolutely no restriction, and because of scheduling conflicts at the dr's office, I have to wait 10 weeks instead of 4-6 for my next fill. I feel like I am really getting myself in trouble. Eating burgers with the bun off the grill, chips, sm pieces of carrot cake that my kids wouldnt eat, that would be a shame to waste...etc. I really need to get excersizing more, but I am working 6:30am-9pm 3x a week, and 3 10hr shifts the other days. I have no time! I find myself eating things I never ate before banding.

I really need a swift kick in the @$$ and some serious motivation. I will not go back to the clothes I was wearing, but I am starting to feel my current ones get tighter- Please help!!

Thank you in advance for listening...any good and bad criticism is welcome, as well as inspiration.

(I dont want to change my ticker...so it is lying by about 3 lbs...)

Hi, sounds like you're in a major slump. Feel free to PM me if you need to talk, I'll be banded tomorrow, but I'll be glad to be your band buddy to keep you motivated, that's what we are all here for!

In the meantime I would take a step back and reaccess what you are currently doing and what you should be doing to lose weight. It's not an easy thing to do and everyone has bad days. That doesn't mean you have to totally blow your diet. Just chalk it up to a mistake and move on from where you are. Sometimes we feel if we "cheat" once the whole diet is blown and that's not true. Don't feel guilty this isn't a diet it's a life change and you're doing great. So what if you gained 3 pounds let's just work harder in the new few days to lose those 3 pounds again! Good luck!

I was banded on 6/19 and I'm going through the same thing. I know I just need to be better prepared. I work 2 jobs and use that as an excuse to eat bad. I just need to get up 15 minutes earlier and get my lunch together. It's just so easy to eat at the hospital or at my other job. I have to remember that is how I got to where I am today. If you want to keep in touch let me know, we can kick this thing together.

Later, Dawn

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
