I went to GNC today and got some Isopure (the green one and the orange one- peach mango.)

I sipped the peach mango and it was not good but it was also room temp.

I heard people saying they mix in crystal light. Do you just pour in the crystal light and mix it with the Isopure, or do you Water the Isopure down w/ crystal light and water and have half a serving?

I start working again tomorrow and want to have the easiest way to get my Protein as possible. If I can figure a way to DRINK this, I think it will be so much simpler than mixing shakes at work.

Thanks!!

Also, this is strange and totally off topic... I took a nap today and weighed myself and I lost 5 lbs! I had not lost weight when I woke up this morning. Weird, huh?

Well, let me try this again. When I tried to post my last reply the site went offline...or something.

I think people make up the Crystal Light then add the Isopure to it, but I haven't tried that myself. I taste tested the Icy Orange and Apple Melon Isopure, and they were ok, but I didn't buy any more of them.

What I do buy and drink is Protein Blitz Fruit drinks by Designer whey. They are relatively new on the market - the only place I have been able to find them is Vitamin Shoppe. They come in Grape, Orange Mango, and Punch and I LOVE them! They taste like Kool-Aid to me. No clumps of Protein or the chalky taste of the Isopure. They come in 20 oz plastic bottles and each bottle contains 30 g protein, 1 g sugars and 120 calories. If you can find them, I highly recommend them. :)

I drink the Alpine Punch, and Grape Isopure. I like both of those flavors. I drink them cold with ice and like them. As long as they are cold, they are good. The Alpine Punch tastes like kool-aid to me. Different things work for different people. They have helped me get all of my Protein in since it seems like since I have been banded the most calories I take in a day are 500.

I mix the Alpine Punch Isopure and the Raspberry Lemonade Crystal Light. It gives it a tangy lemonade flavor. I really like it. Oh and i put the crystal light directly into the isopure i don't delute it at all.

Hope this helps.

I'm still on my pre-op diet, i'll be banded this thursday!! WOOHOO!!

Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
