Post surgery strategies?

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to come up with some tricks and strategies that might keep me on track once I have my surgery. So far, I'm making a list of all of the things that I hate or have had done to me because I'm fat so that I don't go back. Also, I'm thinking about buying a goal dress. I've always wanted to look good in a spaghetti strap dress! Any other tricks that have helped you?

I made a list of things I enjoy doing. I tend to comfort-eat, so I wanted to have ready options to do instead of eating to comfort myself or feel good.

Negative stuff doesn't work for me. It makes me depressed and angry...

I have a journal that I am keeping (bought a pretty blank gook) with pics of me now, my measurements (shudder) my BP and BMI and the tapes I get from the docs office with my BMR, fat mass etc.

I'm also writing my thoughts, feelings, hopes etc down.

I'm not doing this for looks so much as just to "fit" into things again so I'm planning a trip to my beloved Mickey Mouse when i can wear the size XL t-shirts I have (that's a over 100 pounds away) and so on.

We're all different but if I dwelled on bad and negative stuff, I'd bog down.

I guess some of us need the carrot, and some of us need the stick. I'm a carrot girl myself; reward motivates me.

As been said here, chrck your BMR if you want to lose weight:

1- Practice more

2- Eat less

If you want to maintain your weight try to each the same amount of calories every weigh and keep the same life style

Some type of foods are really tricky ... Big Mack with fries and pop might end you up intaking 1600 calories.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
