Hello- I too have pcos but I have the opposite problem you have. I had slight bleeding that was almost unnoticeable for a about two weeks then when I should have had my period there was nothing. I have an appointment with my doctor to see what's going on and I really hope she doesn't tell me I'm pregnant! I have always thought it would be hard for that to happen with the pill and pcos but I know with losing weight (40lbs for me) it can make your body a little out of whack. I hope someone else can offer you more answers as my only suggestion would be to call your doctor. .

Also you said you are eating very little and still not losing. Are you eating enough? Sometimes your body needs more calories then you think for you to lose weight. Do you know how many calories you have been eating a day and also what have you been eating? I know when I eat less calories my weight slows down and just eating a few more makes a huge difference! Again, I'm not an expert on this but thought I would share what works for me!

Good luck!!

I'm not banded yet so I don't know this from experience. My doctor said that with PCOS that after weight loss, your hormones that haven't been being produced the way that they should be can start with a vengence. Since you are taking BC and have lost weight, your body may actually have too much estrogen due to increased production with the weight loss. Your doctor can, of course, be able to tell for sure. I would definitely ask for a hormone level check. I hope this helps.

I have PCOS and was banded 4 weeks ago. I had my cycle right before my surgery and I take the pill 3 packs in a row to only have 4 cycles a year so I *should* be no where near cycle time. Guess what, I am bleeding. Not a full cycle but heavy spotting. I plan to ask my doc about it tomorrow.

Oh my gosh -- I TOTALLY have the same problem. I've never been diagnosed with PCOS, but I've always had heavy periods that lasted 7-10 days. Post-op, though, my periods have been CRAZY . . . one was 2 weeks, one was almost three weeks, and now, 2 weeks after the last really long one, I am starting up again.

I am going to make an apptmt to see my gyno, because this is RIDICULOUS. I have to admit though, I lost weight like crazy on them and I don't retain Water at all when I'm on them, so it's kinds nice to see the rapid weight loss. As soon as they stop, I feel bloated and icky again --like PMS. Whatever! The whole thing is just weird.

My doc says it may very well be the weight loss. She wants to run some tests if I am still having issues in 2 weeks when I go back.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
